There has been little to separate these two sides recently, with both losing four of their previous ten matches and failing to keep as many clean sheets as they would like. In fact, their defensive numbers are virtually identical, though Mark Hughes’ men must now cope without their injured captain Ryan Shawcross at the back.

Much has been made of Stoke’s change of style and it is interesting to note that 83% of their last 18 top-flight goals on the road have come from open play. The Britannia Stadium outfit have netted 15 times in ten games of late, though six of these strikes have come against Liverpool. For their part, Tottenham are converting a healthy 17% of their chances.

WHAT’S NEXT?

Five of the most recent eight clashes between Stoke and Tottenham have seen one team reduced to ten men, with whichever side that has been going on to lose on every occasion.

Spurs have won three of the seven Premier League meetings between the sides at White Hart Lane and seven of 14 overall, but the Potters did manage to do the ‘double’ over them last season.
