The Toffees face a tough trip this week with Barnsley performing well so far this term and will be hoping for a better result than the 3-0 loss to Swansea at the same stage in last term’s competition.

Roberto Martinez has a couple of players out injured, including Brendan Galloway, Aiden McGeady, Steven Pienaar, Tony Hibbert, Darron Gibson and Leighton Baines, with the latter out for around three months.

Because of injuries, including a number to the back line, we expect a strong XI to be named although some youngster could get their chance to start.

Romelu Lukaku and Ross Barkley have been brilliant in terms of goals so far this season but the duo are likely to be rested, with Steven Naismith and Arouna Kone in contention to start.

Indeed, the latter has already contributed with one goal and two assists, with Seamus Coleman also assisting his teammates on one occasion this term.

Naismith will also be looking to add to his tally of eight goals from last season, with Kevin Mirallas also a good bet to score should he feature on Wednesday.
