Head-to-Head Premier League stats: Arsenal vs Chelsea

By Mark Peters IN Fixture History,General,Match Preview - 20:00 Sep 22nd 2016

The game of the weekend in the Premier League is undoubtedly the London derby between Arsenal and Chelsea, with the two teams currently locked together on ten points. Both sides enjoyed EFL Cup wins in the East Midlands on Tuesday night, though it is the outcome of this fixture that will ultimately define the success of their week.

ARSENAL VS CHELSEA - AT ARSENAL

Although the Gunners have had the better of things historically on their own patch, just two of their 11 successes since August 1992 have come in the last 12 meetings. By way of contrast, all five of Chelsea’s victories have come since the beginning of December 2005:

One striking feature of recent contests is just how hard goals have been to come by. There have been three 0-0 draws in the last five encounters, whilst Diego Costa’s effort proved enough to hand the Blues all three points at the Emirates Stadium back in January.
