Head-to-Head: Nottingham Forest vs Birmingham City

By Mark Peters IN Fixture History,General,Match Preview - 20:10 Oct 13th 2016

Nottingham Forest and Birmingham City have both tasted life in the Premier League, though they have had to get used to football at a lower level in recent seasons. Ahead of this latest meeting between two teams from either side of the Midlands divide, we thought we’d take a look back at the history of the fixture.

NOTTINGHAM FOREST VS BIRMINGHAM CITY – AT NOTTINGHAM FOREST

Having struggled on their trips to the City Ground before we entered the current millennium, the Blues have taken a real shine to the venue in recent times. In fact, they have suffered just a single defeat in their last eight second-tier visits to this part of the world, although a clean sheet has eluded them since October 2001:

Scoring the opening goal is important in any match, but it seems particularly crucial when these teams meet. Birmingham are unbeaten in the five games in which they have got their noses in front, whilst Nottingham Forest have held on to win 1-0 on four of the five occasions in which they have struck the first blow.
