West Ham United line up big-money January transfer

By Mark Peters IN General,Transfers - 19:45 Nov 15th 2016

Scoring goals has been a real problem for West Ham this season, with Slaven Bilic’s men averaging just one per game in the Premier League.

The likes of Simone Zaza, Jonathan Calleri and Ashley Fletcher have all failed to hit the ground running, whilst Andy Carroll has been dogged by injury.

TROY DEENEY

Bringing in a centre-forward with proven quality therefore has to be a priority for the Hammers, with reports in the Daily Mirror linking them with a January move for Troy Deeney.

Leicester are thought to have failed with a £25m bid for the Watford striker during the summer, so prizing the 28-year-old away from Vicarage Road could prove to be an expensive business:

On paper, any move would appear to be worthwhile, however, as the former Walsall man has either scored or assisted roughly once every two games in his Premier League career to date.

He also brings leadership qualities to the table, having captained the Hornets since the beginning of the 2014/15 campaign, as well as offering a tremendous physical presence in attack.
