Can the Blues Continue their Title Challenge? Chelsea v Bournemouth Form Guide

By timgarrett IN General,Premier League,Ultimate Form Guide - 10:22 Dec 26th 2016

The old adage that being top at Christmas means you’ll go on to win the league may not always be true (only 12 of the last 24 Premier League champions were top on December 25th), but when you’re playing as well as Chelsea currently are, it’s hard to think that the coming year will bring anything but silverware.

Chelsea are the form team in England. Antonio Conte’s switch to three at the back has seen them go on an unprecedented run in the league, and seal 9 wins out of 10 in all competitions.

Their attacking stats are impressive, but it’s at the back where they’re really excelling. An average of 0.4 goals conceded per game is outstanding, and the fact opposition sides are currently needing an average of 20 shots to score just 1 goal will have Bournemouth’s forwards dreading their first post-Christmas outing.

The Cherries are once again more than holding their own in this season though. They’ve only scored 4 goals less than Chelsea in their last 10, and their attacking stats match up pretty well against their hosts.

The chances of an upset here still seem pretty slim according to the stats, however. A 14-0 victory for Chelsea across the 15 categories in our Ultimate Form Guide (above) is about as comprehensive as it gets.
