Everton Keen to Move for Barkley Replacement

Dogged by inconsistency and in and out of the team under Ronald Koeman, Everton are weighing up a move to replace Ross Barkley this Summer.

Reports suggest Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain is the player firmly on Everton's radar, with the Arsenal player approaching the last year of his contract.

Oxlade-Chamberlain is yet to gain a regular starting place at The Emirates despite currently playing in his fifth season for The Gunners.

Over the past five seasons Barkley has managed nearly double the Premier League starts that Oxlade-Chamberlain has. In that period the Evertonian has scored twice as many goals, but their respective assist records are remarkably similar.

Ronald Koeman is known to be an admirer of the 23-year-old England midfielder and are ready to rival Manchester City's interest in the player. It's likely Everton would look to use Oxlade-Chamberlain as a playmaker in midfield.

Everton have a considerable transfer war chest at Koeman's disposal following the club's takeover last year and the Dutchman is keen to continue his squad overhaul this summer.
