Reds’ Return To Form To Continue? Leicester v Liverpool Ultimate Form Guide

By timgarrett IN General,Premier League,Ultimate Form Guide - 19:45 Feb 26th 2017

Having endured a difficult start to 2017, Liverpool looked back to their best in beating Tottenham last time out, and Jürgen Klopp will be desperate to see his side continue in that vein as they visit the home of the reigning Premier League champions on Monday.

For the hosts, it has been another barmy week. There have been few moments of calm since Leicester returned to England’s top division in 2014, but sensationally sacking their title-winning manager just a day after a highly credible result in the Champions League last 16 stands out as one of the most bizarre. The owners are clearly hoping that taking such a decision will lead to an upturn in domestic fortunes, but is that likely to start here?

Our Ultimate Form Guide (above) suggests that’s unlikely as, despite both sides’ relatively miserable form in their last 10 games, Liverpool top Leicester in 8 out of 15 key statistical areas, with the Foxes topping just 3.

Both sides have seriously struggled for goals of late, and this is reflected in their matching averages of 0.8 per game. Whilst Liverpool may be having more shots each game and Leicester’s conversion rate may be higher, it’s safe to say that neither side excelling in an attacking sense.

With that in mind, the focus turn to who can stay tighter at the back, and the stats suggest that that is Liverpool. Leicester’s record of 0 clean sheets in their last 10 and an average of 1.9 goals against per game is extremely poor, and their current plight is in a large part down to their deficiencies in defence.

Overall, it looks like Liverpool are the more likely to be celebrating here, and Leicester’s woes could well be continuing for some time to come.
