Allegri’s XI To Finish The Job: Juventus Predicted Line-up v Barcelona

By timgarrett IN Champions League,General,Lineup - 13:00 Apr 19th 2017

In recent years Juventus have undoubtedly established themselves as perennial Champions League contenders, but even their most optimistic supporters couldn’t have foreseen last week’s demolition of Barcelona. 3-0 winners against European royalty, and the gap could have been even larger. This is a Juve side that means business, and is on the brink of claiming a much-deserved spot in the semi-finals.

They will have to be focused again tonight, however, as they head to the fortress that is the Camp Nou. Barcelona are on a 15 match winning run at home in the Champions League, and will be in no mood to give up that record without a fight.

With this in mind, it’s vital that Massimiliano Allegri gets his team selection right. This is the XI we expect him to go with:

Dani Alves and Alex Sandro were sensationally good last week in keeping Barcelona’s formidable attacking trio quiet, and will be vital again tonight. The pair have started together for Juve 11 times this season and have come out on the winning side in 9 of those matches.

Miralem Pjanić and Sami Khedira will partner at the base of Allegri’s midfield, and provide a huge amount of defensive stability to the side. In the 24 games they have started together, Juve have conceded just 15 goals.

Paulo Dybala was last week’s star, capping a stunning performance with two goals, and he will be key once more. When he starts alongside fellow Argentine Gonzalo Higuaín, Juve average exactly 2 goals per game.

This is a Juventus side who look set for this year’s Champions League final and regardless of Barcelona’s home form, the smart money remains on them to book their place in the semi-finals this evening.
