Manchester City looked back to their best last weekend as they absolutely battered Crystal Palace 5-0. As Pep Guardiola and his men begin to wind up toward the end of their debut season together, they will be hoping for more of the same.
Next up for them are Leicester, who may well no longer be the reigning English champions by the time the game kicks off. They will still have plenty to play for, however, as they seek to finish a turbulent season by celebrating a top half finish.
It’s a fixture that looks finely poised, but who will come out on top?
|ATTACKING FORM AVERAGES|
|DEFENSIVE FORM AVERAGES|
Our Ultimate Form Guide (above) actually suggests that it’s the visitors who could come away with the win, with Leicester topping City in 9 out of 15 key statistical areas over their last 10 respective outings.
City’s record of just 3 wins in 10 is particularly poor, and this is in no small part down to defensive issues. They are currently averaging 1.3 goals against per game and have just 3 clean sheets in 10, meaning that they’re constantly giving their opponents a chance.
In attack, however, they’re really beginning to find their feet, and this is where they could punish Leicester. With 7 goals in their last 2 games, they’re flying and a Leicester defense conceded 1 in every 9 shots on their goal could seriously struggle here.
City are unbeaten in 10 home fixtures in the Premier League, and despite poor form of late there was more than enough in last week’s win to think they could repeat the trick again. The smart money remains on the Citizens to take all 3 points.
