Chelsea line up perfect signing for Conte’s system

Victor Moses and Marcos Alonso were unexpected hits in Chelsea’s Premier League title triumph last season, but the lack of competition for the duo’s places in Antonio Conte’s preferred 3-4-3 system remains a concern.

The addition of Champions League football to their schedule means that the Blues will have to increase the depth of their squad ahead of the forthcoming campaign, so expect to see a couple of wing-backs arriving at Stamford Bridge.

According to reports in the Daily Express, one of those could well be Danilo, with the West London outfit said to have enquired about the availability of the right-sided Real Madrid defender.

DANILO

Since moving to the Spanish capital in the summer of 2015, the 25-year-old has largely had to play second fiddle to Dani Carvajal, meaning that he is likely to be open to a switch.

In fact, the ex-Porto defender has started just 41 of a possible 76 matches in La Liga, helping his team to keep 12 clean sheets and scoring three goals along the way:

Like Cafu and Dani Alves before him, the Brazilian international is a player who loves to get forward at every opportunity, making him ideally-suited to the role of a right wing-back.

In addition to his obvious ability, Danilo would also bring with him the added bonus of Champions League experience, clocking up over 30 games and two successes in Europe’s premier club competition:

Thought to be available for around £26m, the 25-year-old could prove to be a bargain in the current market, though Juventus are also thought to be interested in securing the services of a player who wants regular football ahead of the next World Cup.
