Chelsea plot surprise move for familiar face

By Mark Peters IN General,Premier League,Serie A,Transfers - 08:52 Jul 27th 2017

Chelsea have certainly shown plenty of ambition in the transfer market so far this summer, adding Alvaro Morata, Tiemoue Bakayoko, Antonio Rudiger and Willy Caballero to what was already a title-winning squad.

Diego Costa and Nemanja Matic look increasingly likely to move on to pastures new, however, so it may take a few weeks for the much-changed side to click fully into gear.

For that reason, perhaps it seems unsurprising to see reports in the Daily Star linking Antonio Conte with a move for Inter Milan’s Antonio Candreva, a player he knows well from his spell in charge of Italy.

ANTONIO CANDREVA

Capable of playing in a variety of different positions, it is highly likely that the 30-year-old would primarily be used at right wing-back, thus providing some much-needed competition for Victor Moses.

Having featured in all 38 Serie A games for his club last season, starting 36, it is clear that age is not yet catching up with the former Lazio man:

In total, Candreva helped himself to six top-flight goals and a further ten assists in what was his debut campaign for the Italian giants, demonstrating his ability to rise to the big occasion by scoring in both Milan derbies.

It should not be forgotten, either, just how consistent the versatile performer was during his time at Lazio, achieving a double-figure goal return in Serie A in each of his final three seasons at the Roman outfit:

Perhaps it would be too much to expect him to match these numbers from a right wing-back role at Stamford Bridge, but he would certainly provide the sort of additional attacking threat that is always welcome in any side.

Chelsea FC can sign Antonio Candreva if he is so capable( strong and skillful ) enough to face the opponents and also highly rated statistically. We must also make sure we sign Alex Sandro and Van Dijk on time this week.
