Tottenham Hotspur target experienced La Liga star

It is difficult to know what to make of Tottenham’s lack of transfer activity, with some applauding the club’s desire to maintain continuity and others questioning their ambition.

Whichever side of the fence individual supporters come down on, I’m sure that most would like to see the arrival of at least one fresh face who could help to improve the team, much as Victor Wanyama did when joining from Southampton last summer.

According to Football Insider, former Blackburn and Stoke midfielder Steven N’Zonzi could well be that man, with the North London outfit said to be amongst the favourites to secure his signature.

Juventus and Inter Milan are also thought to hold a serious interest in the 28-year-old, highlighting just how much he has developed his game since turning his back on English football.

Swapping the Potteries for Seville has certainly proved to be a smart move on the part of the Frenchman, providing him with the opportunity to play regularly in a highly-accomplished side:

Over the course of the previous couple of campaigns, N’Zonzi has clocked up more than 60 appearances in La Liga, establishing himself as a real presence in the engine room and helping his club to secure a top-four finish last time around.

The 28-year-old’s experience in the Premier League should not be discounted completely, however, with the fact that he has already played close to 200 games in the competition meaning that he would be able to hit the ground running should he make his return:

Eric Dier may find himself being used as part of a three-man defence more often next season, so increasing the midfield options available to Mauricio Pochettino would surely be a good thing.
