Liverpool line up shock fourth signing of the summer

By Mark Peters IN General,Ligue 1,Premier League,Transfers - 19:37 Aug 5th 2017

Although they have added Dominic Solanke, Mohamed Salah and Andrew Robertson to their squad, Liverpool have been relatively quiet in the transfer market so far this summer compared with some of Europe’s other leading clubs.

The Reds’ much-publicised pursuit of Naby Keita looks increasingly unlikely to bear fruit, but that does not mean they have stopped looking for options in the middle of the park.

In fact, according to Sky Sports, little-known holding midfielder Benjamin Andre has emerged as a surprise target for the Merseyside outfit.

BENJAMIN ANDRE

Formerly of Ajaccio and currently on the books of Rennes, the 27-year-old has occupied a variety of positions throughout his career, proving himself to be extremely adaptable and flexible.

Originally signed as a right-back, the Frenchman has flourished in the engine room since joining his current employers, regularly throwing his body in the way of dangerous shots and relishing the chance to put his foot in:

Over the course of the last couple of campaigns, Andre has emerged as one of his side’s most consistent performers, featuring in 68 of a possible 76 Ligue 1 matches and even weighing in with five assists.

Although making life difficult for the opposition has become the 27-year-old’s stock-in-trade, his return of four top-flight goals and a further five assists in his final season for Ajaccio back in 2013/14 serves to highlight his versatility:

Let us not forget that N’Golo Kante and Riyad Mahrez are just two recent examples of players who have arrived in England from French football to little fanfare and they haven’t done too badly for themselves!

Won’t happen as we only manage to stumble through a transfer if there is 8 or ten weeks to see it come to pass. Pretty dumb staff at L4 transfer office.

I couldn,t care less anymore. I am beginning to think that Klopp is eccentric. I don,t think that Klopp is interested in bringing new players in. He is so good he obviously thinks he doesn’t,t need them. Good luck with that one!
