Tottenham Hotspur line up sensational Sissoko replacement

By Mark Peters IN General,La Liga,Premier League,Transfers - 19:45 Aug 17th 2017

At their best, few teams in the Premier League can live with Mauricio Pochettino’s first-choice XI, though one or two key injuries or suspensions could hit them hard in the upcoming campaign.

Adding some further quality to the squad before the transfer window slams shut at the end of August therefore has to be a priority for the North London outfit, though they will not be bullied into spending more than they have to.

If reports in the Daily Star are to be believed, then one potential signing could well be Denis Suarez, with both Tottenham and Napoli said to have submitted £27m bids for the Barcelona player.

DENIS SUAREZ

As good as he undoubtedly is, first-team football has proven hard to come by at Camp Nou for the talented 23-year-old and a move to Spurs would provide him with the opportunity to show just what he is capable of.

That ability is something that the midfielder demonstrated in flashes during the 2014/15 and 2015/16 campaigns at Sevilla and Villarreal respectively, gaining valuable experience along the way:

In a total of 64 top-flight appearances for the two Spanish clubs, the former Manchester City youngster weighed in with a decent return of six goals and eight assists.

Comfortable playing out wide or more centrally, the 23-year-old is both an accomplished passer and an exquisite dribbler, so there would definitely be room for him in Pochettino’s squad:

Perhaps Suarez’s arrival would signal the end of Moussa Sissoko’s unproductive Tottenham career, with the former Newcastle midfielder making less of a top-flight impact than his potential replacement in 2016/17.

Sensational? Talented? He hardly knows where the goal is and provides one assist in 5 games. No thanks.

Any report written in the Daily Star must be regarded as bullshit. Similarly the Sun, Mirror and Daily Express.
