Arsenal plot ambitious move for talented wing wizard

Having followed the traditional route of winning at home to Leicester and losing at Stoke, Sunday’s trip to Liverpool will tell us much about the sort of season that Arsenal are in line for.

Although many would argue that tightening up their defence should be the Gunners’ top priority, all the indications suggest that Arsene Wenger remains on the lookout for another wide player, possibly as a replacement for Alexis Sanchez.

According to reports in the Daily Express, that man could well be Lucas Vazquez, though Liverpool are also thought to be interested in securing his signature.

Currently behind Cristiano Ronaldo, Gareth Bale, Karim Benzema, Isco and Marco Asensio in the battle to secure a place in Real Madrid’s highly-talented front-three, now could well be the right time for the 26-year-old to move on.

Although the winger has clocked up close to 60 appearances in La Liga over the course of the last couple of campaigns, just 22 of those have come from the start:

That has not prevented the Spanish international from making a significant impact, however, as he has still managed to weigh in with six top-flight goals and a further 14 assists.

Most comfortable starting on the right, but also able to operate down the left when required, Vazquez possesses speed, technique and a much-needed willingness to put the ball in the box:

Should the worst happen and Sanchez move on, then their respective top-flight numbers in 2016/17 suggest that the Real Madrid man could at least replace the Chilean’s assists in North London, albeit not his goals.
