Klopp Opts For All-Out Attack: Liverpool Predicted Line-up v Spartak Moscow

By timgarrett IN Champions League,Lineup - 13:00 Sep 26th 2017

Liverpool head to Moscow on Tuesday night knowing that their Champions League group is wide open. The first round of fixtures saw draws in both games, meaning that the opportunity is there to really take the initiative if Jürgen Klopp & co. head can claim an away victory in the Russian capital.

If they’re to do that, however, then a tightening up at the back is surely necessary. It’s now 5 matches since Liverpool have managed to keep a clean sheet, and at this level competition few sides will be forgiving should the now customary holes begin to open up.

With that in mind, it’s vital that Klopp gets his team selection right. This is the XI we expect him to go with:

Trent Alexander-Arnold, Joel Matip, Dejan Lovren and Alberto Moreno look set to form Liverpool’s back 4 tonight, yet the quartet have started just once together previously. That match ended in a 3-3 draw, suggesting that improvements will need to be made.

Fortunately, however, Liverpool are once again able to call on an almost full-strength array of attacking talent, starting with Philippe Coutinho. He will join Emre Can and Jordan Henderson in a midfield and provide a vital role in linking their play to the side’s lightening quick attack.

Sadio Mane and Mohammed Salah have combined to devastating effect since the latter’s arrival at Anfield in the summer. At least one has found the net every time they have started together thus far, and an extension of that run will surely give Liverpool the perfect basis to build a victory from.

Overall, this attacking Liverpool side looks an ominous prospect for any opposition defense and, n their first season back in the Champions League for half a decade, Spartak are unlikely to be able to withstand the onslaught. An away victory looks the most likely outcome, and with odds of 25/1 available with Betfair it looks like the smartest bet of the night too.
