MAN UTD v C PALACE

Conventional wisdom suggests that midweek trips to Moscow are tricky affairs, but on Wednesday night José Mourinho’s Manchester United made exceptionally light work of theirs. 3-0 up within half an hour against CSKA, United were far and away the superior side, once again demonstrating just how far they have come under their Portuguese manager.

Next up are Crystal Palace, who have the dubious honour of being named Europe’s most out of form side. Their 6 game goalless and pointless start to the Premier League season has set records for its dreadfulness, and there are few worse places in world football to attempt to get out of a rut than Old Trafford.

With a large squad and midweek fatigue to manage, Mourinho’s team selection will be one of the main points of interest on Saturday afternoon. This is the XI we currently expect him to go with:

Eric Bailly and Chris Smalling look set to partner at the back, alongside a resurgent Ashley Young. The former England man was hauled off early in midweek to preserve energy, demonstrating just how high his stock currently is in the United dressing room.

Fan favourites Ander Herrera and Nemanja Matić will continue side-by-side in the heart of midfield having impressed together against CSKA. It was the first time the pair have tasted victory when starting together for United, but their performance levels certainly suggested it won’t be the last.

In attack, Marcus Rashford and Romelu Lukaku look set to star once again. Both young forwards have been in sensational form so far this season, and United have averaged 3 goals per game when both have started.

Overall, it’s almost impossible to look past United for this fixture. Another heavy defeat could well be on the cards for Palace as United’s attackers fill their boots, and thanks to Betfair you can too. New customers can get odds of 18/1 on United to win here, and there’s surely no safer bet in European football this weekend.
