When the draws were made for this season’s Champions League group stages back in August, Tottenham fans were left cursing their luck. Group H could hardly have looked tougher on paper, with Real Madrid and Borussia Dortmund immediately installed as favourites to progress. But, with 2 games played, the signs are that Spurs fans needn’t have worried.

Harry Kane was described by Zinedine Zidane as a ‘complete player’ this week, and his 5 goals in 2 Champions League games has lead to a return of 6 points, leaving the North London outfit in a strong position as they prepare to take on the Frenchman’s back-to-back European champions at the Bernabeu. There are fewer tougher places to visit in world football, and as such Spurs manager Mauricio Pochettino will have to get his selection right. This is the XI we expect him to go with:

Spurs have been incredibly strong at the back in recent years, and the summer addition of Davinson Sánchez has only added to that. He has started alongside the excellent Jan Vertonghen and Toby Alderweireld 6 times so far this term, with Spurs winning on 5 occasions and conceding just 3 goals.

Having appeared close to the Spurs exit door in the summer, Moussa Sissoko has been resurgent this term. He looks set partner Eric Dier and Mousa Dembélé in the center of the park tonight in what may appear at first like a defensive selection, but Spurs have actually thrived in attack with the midfield stability the trio delivers. In the 7 starts they’ve made together, their side has averaged 2.3 goals per game.

Overall, it’s a very strong Spurs side and one that looks set to give Real Madrid a run for their money in what could be an absolute classic. Goals are sure to be the order of the day and the result could go either way, which makes Betfair’s new customer offer all the more enticing. Get Real to win at 20/1 or Spurs to win at 60/1 and you’re sure to come away a winner tonight.
