Wilshere to Start? Arsenal’s Predicted Line-up v Norwich

By Joel Turner IN General,League Cup,Lineup - 12:10 Oct 24th 2017

The League Cup remains the only domestic trophy Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has not won, as his side faces Norwich City in the last-16 this evening.

The Gunners are looking good to progress in the tournament this season, but their opponents Norwich are riding high after a derby victory over Ipswich this weekend.

Arsenal, of course, beat Everton 5-2 on Sunday – precipitating the departure of Toffees manager Ronald Koeman.

The Gunners fielded the fearsome first-choice front three of Alexis Sanchez, Mesut Ozil and Alexandre Lacazette for the Everton victory, but it seems unlikely that will happen again tonight.

After rotating his side with some success in the Europa League, it seems likely Wenger will put out a similar side to that which beat Red Star Belgrade 0-1 last week.

Shkodran Mustafi, David Ospina, Danny Welbeck and Calum Chambers are all injured and unlikely to be available until after the international break.

Mathieu Debuchy could once again start as part of a back-three after making his first appearance in a year last week.

Wenger must also decide whether to use Jack Wilshere tonight as part of what is effectively a reserve team line-up, or keep him fresh for Premier League duties and a run in the first XI.
