An XI To Do The Italian Job: Man City’s Predicted Line-Up v Napoli

By timgarrett IN Champions League,Ultimate Form Guide - 17:45 Nov 1st 2017

Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City side arrives in Naples this evening on the back of a truly remarkable run of form. 15 outings this season have brought 13 wins, no defeats, 45 goals scored and just 8 goals conceded, and the feeling that there’s even more to come is inescapable.

If they’re to claim another win tonight they will have to be at their best, however, as their hosts are certainly no slouches themselves. Napoli currently sit top of Serie A and are unbeaten at home all season, so it will take a strong starting XI to overcome them. This is the side we expect Pep to go with:

The strength of City’s backline has surprised many this season, and their ability to keep clean sheets even after changes is personnel reflects incredibly well on the level of coaching at the club currently. Kyle Walker, John Stones, Nicolas Otamendi and Danilo have only started as a quarter twice previously, but are yet to concede a single goal.

In midfield, there are few superlatives that haven’t already been used to describe the performances of David Silva and Kevin de Bruyne of late. Not only have they helped City achieving record-breaking levels of possession of late, but with 16 assists between them they’re contributing incredible in attack too.

Incredibly, given that the season is just a few months old, each of the attacking trio is already on the brink of breaking the 10-goal mark. Leroy Sané, Raheem Sterling and Sergio Agüero have been in scintillating form, and it will take quite the defensive performance to prevent them from increasing their respective tallies here.

Overall, it’s a stunning City side and one worth backing to win any game, regardless of the opposition. But, with massive odds of 28/1 available to new Coral customers, tonight’s victory in particular looks worth getting behind.
