Kane Set To Star For Spurs: Tottenham Hotspur’s Predicted Line-Up v Real Madrid

By timgarrett IN Champions League,Ultimate Form Guide - 18:15 Nov 1st 2017

A fortnight ago Tottenham Hotspur arrived in Madrid with few giving them much hope of getting a result against back-to-back European champions Real. After a performance that saw many deem them unfortunate to have only claimed a 1-1 draw, however, the mood is far more buoyant ahead of tonight’s reverse fixture.

Spurs were formidable in their only other home Champions League outing this season, earning a decisive 3-1 victory over Dortmund, and a similar performance level will be required if they are to once again triumph tonight.

If that’s to be possible, Argentine manager Mauricio Pochettino must get his team selection right. This is the XI we expect him to go with:

Jan Vertonghen, Toby Alderweireld and Davinson Sánchez have formed a formidable defensive unit this season, keeping 4 clean sheets in their 8 appearances together. If Spurs are to keep the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo at bay tonight, they’ll need these 3 firing on all cylinders.

In midfield, Eric Dier and Mousa Dembélé will form what is now an experienced core to the side. The pair have now started 71 times alongside one another, and have come out on the winning side in more than 60% of those games.

News of Harry Kane’s possible return to the side will be music to Spurs fans’ ears, after their star striker missed Saturday’s unsuccessful visit to Old Trafford. Kane has scored 13 goals in his 12 outings so far this season, and will be more than confident of adding to that tally here.

Overall, it’s a very strong Spurs side, and one that looks more than capable of challenge European giants once more. A home win may surprise some, but with huge odds of 40/1 available to new Betfair customers, it’s well worth backing.
