Can Bradford Close The Gap? Will Gillingham Or Bury Bounce Back? League One Preview

By timgarrett IN League One,Match Preview - 10:30 Nov 11th 2017

With no games in the Premier League or the Championship this weekend due to the international break, it’s the turn of League One to take center stage. Over a third of the campaign has already been completed at this level, and the entertainment has been non-stop thus far.

Surprise package Shrewsbury continue to blaze a trail at the top of the table, with big guns Wigan, Bradford and Charlton all hot on their heels. At the bottom, meanwhile, Plymouth, Bury and Gillingham must all find a remedy for their recent woes if they’re to avoid the drop.

The 8 games this weekend draw intrigue from throughout the league, and here we take a look at some of the most interesting clashes.

BRADFORD v PLYMOUTH View full match preview here

Of the division’s top 4 sides only Bradford are in action, providing them with a perfect opportunity to pile the pressure on their promotion rivals. They host bottom side Plymouth in what, on the surface, appears a straight forward win, but with the visitors having avoided defeat in each of their last 4 League One outings, concentration will be required to get the job done. The KickOff predictive algorithm gives them a 62% chance of doing exactly that.

SCUNTHORPE v BRISTOL ROVERS View full match preview here

This weekend also provides Scunthorpe with an excellent opportunity to apply some pressure. They currently sit in 5th place, 4 points behind Charlton in 4th, and simply cannot let the chance to reduce that gap to just 1 point slip by. Bristol Rovers are the visitors to Glanford Park and with 5 defeats in their last 6 away fixtures, they’re unlikely to be high on confidence. The KickOff algorithm gives a 50% chance of a home win, and in all honesty that’s probably rather generous to the visitors.

GILLINGHAM v BURY View full match preview here

Gillingham and Bury currently occupy 2 of the division’s 4 relegation places, and arrive into their clash in predictably dismal form. With respective averages of 0.75 and 1.05 goals per game their meeting promises to be anything but a classic, but it could just be a nice earner for the punters. The KickOff predictive algorithm gives a 57% chance of there being under 2.5 goals in the match and with odds of 2.20 available with Coral, it’s surely one of the bets of the day.

BLACKPOOL v PORTSMOUTH View full match preview here

Finally, we come to a clash between 2 sides that occupied Premier League places in the not-too-distant past – Blackpool and Portsmouth. Both are currently hanging around in mid-table mediocrity, with an injection of energy required to stop their respective seasons from simply slipping away. The KickOff algorithm gives Blackpool a 46% chance of claiming victory here, and with Portsmouth having lost 4 of their last 5 away matches it’s easy to see why.

Overall, it looks set to be fantastic weekend of entertainment, there’s no better place than KickOff to follow all of the action.
