Walcott & Wilshere Set For Return: Arsenal’s Predicted Line-Up v BATE Borisov

By timgarrett IN Europa League,Lineup - 18:00 Dec 6th 2017

It was a strange weekend for Arsenal fans, as their side produced a highly spirited and, in many ways, dominant display against Manchester United but still came away empty handed. The sense of frustration was palpable, but all must now move on to a final European challenge before the winter break.

BATE Borisov will be the last group stage visitors to The Emirates, in a game of little consequence to the hosts. Arsenal have already confirmed their place in the next round of the Europa League, but many will still view avoiding defeat here as imperative.

Back-to-back home defeats are rarely anything but damaging, and when they come against one’s fierce rivals and then Belarusian opposition, this becomes even more the case. As such, it’s vital that Arsene Wenger gets his team selection right. This is the XI we expect him to go with:

In a heavily rotated side, the relatively untried trio of Mathieu Debuchy, Mohamed Elneny and Rob Holding look set to partner in a back 3. They have started together just 4 times previous for the Gunners, winning on 2 occasions.

Jack Wilshere and Francis Coquelin will offer far more experience in the center of the park, with well over 300 starts for the club between them. Wide men Calum Chambers and Ainsley Maitland-Niles will be sure to look to them for guidance.

Two of Arsenal’s forgotten men look set to be given another chance too, as Theo Walcott and Olivier Giroud return to the fold. Arsenal have averaged over 2 goals per game in the 101 fixtures these two have started together previously, and will be hoping for more of the same tonight.

Overall, it’s an Arsenal side that should be more than capable of overcoming this BATE Borisov side. New Betfair customers can back the home win at 18/1 and with odds like that, there can’t be a better bet around tonight.
