No Rest For City As Old Trafford Beckons: Man City’s Predicted Line-Up v Man Utd

By timgarrett IN Lineup,Premier League - 10:00 Dec 10th 2017

Manchester City’s long unbeaten run was finally broken in midweek at the hands of Shakhtar Donetsk, but manager Pep Guardiola will be keen to ensure that the momentum build up throughout the season remains in tact as they head into this afternoon’s Manchester derby.

United’s week has been much more forgiving that City’s, with 2 extra days rest for their players and no long-haul away days, but the luxury of having Champions League qualification secured before their final group match meant that City were able to rotate and keep their troops fresh.

Still, this is a challenge unlike any other that City have faced this season, and if they to gain a win it’s vital that Pep gets his selection right. This is the XI we expect him to go with:

City look set to go with the same set of players that triumphed dramatically at Huddersfield 2 weeks ago, with Vincent Kompany joining Nicolás Otamendi in the center of defense once more in the continued absence of John Stones.

Fernandinho, David Silva and Kevin De Bruyne have been almost ever-presents this term, and their partnership looks set to survive Silva’s injury scare to continue here. City have scored a stunning 139 goals in the 57 games these 3 have started together previously.

In attack, the jet-heeled Leroy Sané and Raheem Sterling look set to start alongside Sergio Agüero once more, with each posing a significant goal threat. They have 33 goals and 13 assists between them already this term, and who would bet against them adding to that tally at Old Trafford?

Overall, it’s a spectacular City side that few in world football would relish facing. United will certainly pose tough opposition, but it’s difficult to see past Pep’s men right now. With odds of 30/1 available on the away win to new Betfair customers, it really has to be the bet of the day.
