Pochettino To Opt For Attack: Tottenham’s Predicted Line-Up v Stoke

By timgarrett IN Lineup,Premier League - 09:30 Dec 9th 2017

Tottenham finished their Champions League group stage campaign on Wednesday night with another impressive win, but attentions must now switch back to domestic matters. Sitting in 6th place in the Premier League currently, there is much so work on over the winter, starting this afternoon.

Stoke are the visitors to Wembley, and they themselves are seeking something of an upturn in fortunes. Just 1 win in their last 7 outings has lead some to question whether manager Mark Hughes is the right man for the job, although a win here would do much for his short term job security.

All to play for then, and Mauricio Pochettino will have to get his team selection right if he’s to gain the desired result. This is the XI we expect him to go with:

Injuries and suspensions continue to mount up at the back for Spurs, meaning that Eric Dier will once again deputise centrally. Full backs Kieran Trippier and Ben Davies continue to impress, and they will start together for the 34th time.

Harry Winks has been one of Pochettino’s standout performers so far this term, and he will partner Mousa Dembélé for the 6th time this afternoon. The pair tasted victory against Burnley the last time they started together, and will be hoping for a repeat of that outcome here.

In attack, Dele Alli will remain despite struggling to find form of late. Harry Kane and Christian Eriksen have no such worries, however, with the pair having chipped in with 20 goals and 7 assists between them already this season.

Overall, it’s an incredibly strong Spurs side and one that looks far too strong for struggling Stoke. Nothing can be taken for granted, but a home win here is surely one of the safest bets of the day.
