Last weekend’s Manchester derby was a bruising affair for United in more ways than one, but they must attempt to bounce back this evening as Bournemouth arrive at Old Trafford.
Eddie Howe’s side have been in decent form on the road of late, with 2 wins and 2 draws from their last 4 Premier League outings, and would dearly love to add another win to that sequence to lift them further from the perils of the relegation zone.
Picking an effective side that doesn’t include Paul Pogba has been a recurrent headache for José Mourinho this season, with injuries and red cards interrupting the Frenchman’s season. In their talismanic midfielder’s continued absence, this is the XI we expect United to go with tonight:

Marcos Rojo received an incredibly nasty looking head injury during the weekend’s match, but looks set to start once again. His partnership with Phil Jones has not been a fruitful one in the past, with the pair winning just 12 of the 29 games they have started together for United, but Mourinho looks set to persevere with it here.
Ander Herrera and Nemanja Matić will once again be trusted to control the midfield, while Michael Carrick is in line for a potential return from the bench. His last appearance came way back in September.
Romelu Lukaku had a torrid time of it against Manchester City, but looks likely to be given the opportunity to make amends as he retains his place up top. Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial will support him in what appears to have become United’s first choice front line, despite having only started 3 times together previously.
Overall, it’s an extremely strong United side and one that will be desperate to begin to make amends after last weekend’s disappointment. A home win must surely be in line, and with huge odds of 25/1 available to new Betfair customers it’s surely the bet of the evening.
This is reinforced in the ‘Predictions’ tab of KickOff’s all new Acca Smacker (below), which uses our unique predictive algorithm to give United a 73% of taking all 3 points.
The ‘Form Stats’ tab, however, suggests things may not be so clean cut. Using 18 key data points, 9 attacking and 9 defensive, from the past 10 games for each side, KickOff compares the two sides and finds that United only just come out on top, 7-5.
Whether you’re backing United or betting on the whole host of entertainment ahead of us this evening, there’s only one place to do it – the Acca Smacker.
