Supporters of Leeds have had precious little to cheer about in recent seasons, with Saturday’s home draw against relegation-threatened Sunderland doing little to lift spirits and leaving Paul Heckingbottom’s men languishing firmly in mid-table.
New players will be needed if the former Barnsley boss is really to make his mark at Elland Road, with talented Shrewsbury midfielder Jon Nolan thought to be at the top of the club’s shopping list this summer.
Originally on the books of Everton, the 25-year-old has worked his way back up from non-league level, winning rave reviews for his performances in a Shrewsbury side punching well above their weight during the current campaign:
Despite suffering relegation with Chesterfield in his first season in League One, Nolan did enough in a poor team to secure a move to Shropshire, and he has repaid the faith shown in him by scoring nine goals and adding a further five assists in 2017/18.
These numbers are in stark contrast to those being put up by Eunan O’Kane in a Leeds shirt this term, albeit at Championship level, with the Republic of Ireland international coming in for plenty of criticism for the standard of his performances in recent weeks:

Having earned his stripes at the likes of Stockport and Lincoln, the Shrewsbury midfielder possesses a real determination that is reflected by his work ethic on the pitch, though he also boasts plenty of technical ability.
Sheffield United, Sunderland, Norwich and Ipswich have also been linked with the 25-year-old, so winning the battle for his signature would offer up a clear sign of intent on behalf of the Elland Road outfit.
