Tottenham Hotspur Set To Move For Midfield Sensation

When it comes to signing young players, Tottenham have made some incredibly astute moves in recent years, bringing the likes of Christian Eriksen, Eric Dier, Dele Alli, Son Heung-min and Davinson Sanchez to the club.

The North London outfit’s scouting network can therefore be trusted to deliver the next generation of talent, and the progress that those five individuals have made under Mauricio Pochettino is as good an advert as any for attracting potential targets.

According to recent media reports, one man who has caught the eye of those in charge at Spurs is Nordsjælland’s 22-year-old central midfielder Mathias Jensen, a player who has been in terrific form over the course of the last campaign.

Achieving double figures in terms of top-flight goals is no mean feat when you are not a forward, irrespective of the standard of competition, and the youngster’s goal return in 2017/18 was actually better than that of Dele Alli in the Premier League:

Unlike the England international, however, Jensen operates in a classic midfield role, with as many defensive responsibilities as he has attacking ones, so it could be argued that his numbers are even more impressive as a result.

Despite his tender years, it is a clear sign of the 22-year-old’s capacity to lead that he is already captain of both his club side and the Danish under-21s, whilst his ability on the ball has drawn comparisons with countryman Eriksen:

Also thought to be a target for both Ajax and Bayer Leverkusen, it is hard to see Nordsjælland keeping hold of their prize asset for too much longer, and a move to Tottenham would surely allow his career to flourish.
