Liverpool Turn Their Attentions To Potential World Cup Superstar

The trend in the Premier League this summer certainly seems to be for the biggest clubs to get their transfer business done early, with Manchester United, Manchester City and Liverpool all having splashed the cash already, although there has been some disappointment too.

Liverpool had their hopes dashed in their pursuit of potential World Cup star Nabil Fekir but, never one to rest on his laurels, manager Jürgen Klopp has reportedly turned his attention to another attacker set to light up this summer’s tournament in Russia.

Hirving Lozano joins up with his Mexican teammates having enjoyed a stunning breakthrough season with PSV Eindhoven, helping the Dutch side to the Eredivisie title and himself to a highly impressive 17 goals and 8 assists in the process, and he’s now being linked with a move to Anfield.

While some may suggest that it’s easier to play in a table-topping side, it’s clear from the stats above that Lozano was an absolutely key component in PSV’s success.

Their performances improved in almost every measurable metric in games in which the 22-year-old was available, while the 10 goals scored in his first 11 Eredivisie matches will live long in the memory of every Rood-Witten supporter.

Given that PSV’s eventual lead over 2nd place Ajax was just 4 points, it’s not too much of a stretch to suggest that the Eredivisie title may not have been theirs without Lozano’s contributions, and it’s tempting to imagine him making a similar impact in the Premier League.

As is the case with all players heading to Russia, a couple of standout performances could see Lozano’s price skyrocket. His ability is becoming increasingly difficult to doubt and, if Liverpool are serious in their interest, now is undoubtedly the time to make a move.
