Liverpool Signal Their Intent With Move For World-Class Winger

By timgarrett IN Premier League,Transfers - 08:00 Jul 10th 2018

Liverpool remain one of the biggest names in European football, but reaching the final of the Champions League in the flamboyant style in which they did will only serve to make Anfield an even more attractive destination for top talent.

Having already secured the services of Naby Keita and Fabinho ahead of the 2018/19 campaign, it is clear that the Reds mean business next term, with an assault on the Premier League title surely not beyond what is an extremely gifted squad.

If the latest media reports are to be believed, then the Merseyside outfit’s summer spending will not stop there, however, with a move for German international winger Julian Brandt, a rare bright spark for his country at the World Cup, said to be in the offing.

Still just 22 years of age, the Bayer Leverkusen star certainly doesn’t lack for experience, nearly matching the amount of top-flight playing time enjoyed by Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain despite being over two-and-a-half years his junior:

As his direct involvement in 43 Bundesliga goals shows, Brandt is one of the brightest young talents currently plying their trade in German football, bringing pace, power and intelligence to his role on the left wing.

Truth be told, Mo Salah, Roberto Firmino and Sadio Mane will not be losing their places in Jürgen Klopp’s starting XI any time soon, but the 22-year-old’s top-flight numbers last term were not too far adrift of those put up by the Senegalese international:

The very best teams have competition for places throughout their squad, something that the likes of Danny Ings and Dominic Solanke are not providing in attacking areas at present, so bringing in Brandt would represent a clear signal of intent on behalf of the Reds.
