Tottenham Hotspur Make England’s World Cup Hero Top Target

It is a source of great pride to Tottenham supporters to see so many of their squad involved in England’s thrilling World Cup adventure, with Harry Kane, Kieran Trippier, Dele Alli, Eric Dier and Danny Rose all playing their part in Russia.

These players have all made massive strides under the guidance of Mauricio Pochettino, whilst Kyle Walker is another member of the Three Lions’ party who came on leaps and bounds when working under the Argentinian.

According to the latest media reports, Spurs have now emerged as the favourites to secure another of England’s World Cup heroes, with Leicester’s Harry Maguire thought to be a key summer target for the North London outfit.

The 25-year-old has really come to prominence over the course of the last couple of Premier League campaigns, firstly at Hull and then at the King Power Stadium, impressing with both the rugged nature of his defending and his ability on the ball:

Perhaps clean sheets have been somewhat lacking when measured against the likes of Toby Alderweireld, but the fact that Maguire has picked up four individual awards across the last two seasons hints at his stellar form for both the Tigers and the Foxes.

In fact, so impressive was the powerful centre-half for Leicester last term, that he played every top-flight minute for the East Midlands outfit, though his defensive numbers were somewhat overshadowed by those of Spurs’ Davinson Sanchez:

The 25-year-old certainly made an impressive attacking contribution, however, weighing in with two goals and four assists, and his exquisite range of passing makes him the ideal candidate to replace Alderweireld as Tottenham’s ball-playing centre-back.
