West Ham Set To Secure Yet Another Top Class Centre-Forward

By timgarrett IN Premier League,Transfers - 12:05 Aug 9th 2018

West Ham have enjoyed a fantastic summer in the transfer market, adding Ryan Fredericks, Lukasz Fabianski, Issa Diop, Jack Wilshere, Andriy Yarmolenko, Fabian Balbuena, Felipe Anderson and Lucas Perez to the ranks at the London Stadium.

The latest of those arrivals will join Marko Arnautovic and Javier Hernandez as striking options available to Manuel Pellegrini, though Andy Carroll’s continuing fitness issues mean that the Chilean could yet make a last-gasp move for another target man.

According to the latest media reports, Fernando Llorente could well be a West Ham player by the time that the transfer window slams shut at 5pm today, either on loan or for a fee somewhere in the region of £7m.

The presence of Harry Kane has meant that opportunities have proven hard to come by for the Spanish international at Tottenham, though the 33-year-old demonstrated during his time at Swansea just how effective he can be in the Premier League:

Brilliant at holding the ball up and bringing others into play, as well as posing a serious aerial threat, the experienced centre-forward would provide the Hammers with something that they badly miss when Carroll is unavailable.

It should not be forgotten, either, that it is not too long ago that the former Athletic Bilbao striker was leading the line for Italian giants Juventus, helping himself to a goal roughly once every three games in Serie A:

Although some supporters might be underwhelmed by bringing in a veteran centre-forward who has struggled at Tottenham, the 33-year-old would be used wisely by Pellegrini, absorbing the physical blows that might otherwise be heading the way of Arnautovic.
