Barcelona Set To Raid Tottenham For £50m-Rated World Cup Star

Barcelona are an incredible team, as demonstrated by their waltz to the La Liga title last term, yet right-back remains a real problem position for Ernesto Valverde’s men, with Sergi Roberto and Nelson Semedo currently charged with filling the role.

Having sold Aleix Vidal to Sevilla this summer, and with the intention of returning Roberto to his more natural midfield role, the Catalan giants are now intent on bringing in another full-back to challenge their Portuguese international for the starting berth.

Step forward Kieran Trippier if media reports are to be believed, with the attack-minded Tottenham star making a very favourable impression on the powers that be at Camp Nou following his performances for England at the recent World Cup.

Renowned for his superb delivery from wide areas, both from set-pieces and in open play, the 27-year-old weighed in with five assists for Spurs in the Premier League last season, putting the efforts of Semedo in La Liga to shame:

Not only that, but the former Burnley defender also played a part in nine clean sheets in his 24 appearances, 21 of which came as a starter, as he edged ahead of Serge Aurier in the battle to win a spot as Mauricio Pochettino’s first choice right-back:

More responsible than the Ivory Coast international defensively, Tottenham would be loathed to lose Trippier as they prepare for life in a new stadium, but money talks in football and the North London outfit have Kyle Walker-Peters waiting in the wings to replace him.

Kyle Walker’s £50m move to Manchester City last summer certainly proved that Spurs remain willing to sell their best players if the price is right, and a similar offer could be enough to tempt them into doing business with Barcelona this time around.

Are you suggesting that, with our window closed, Tottenham will now allow a first team player to leave without the chance of replacing him? Come on, don’t be so silly. These are just sensation seeking headlines! Poor journalism!
