Betting on key markets in the Bundesliga

By Editor - Jul 24th 2026

Bayern Munich swept all before them in the 2025/26 Bundesliga campaign, scoring an eye-watering 122 goals in 34 matches and losing just once on the way to winning the title by a comfortable 16-point margin. The Bavarian giants’ success owed much to their unstoppable front-three, with Michael Olise (15), Harry Kane (36) and Luis Diaz (15) accounting for 66 of their goals.

There was a real shock at the other end of the table, with 2008/09 champions Wolfsburg slipping into the 2. Bundesliga. Having avoided one of the two direct relegation spots with a final-day success at St. Pauli, the team in green were then beaten over two legs by Paderborn in the relegation playoff.

Here at Kickoff.co.uk, football tips are our meat and drink, so we thought we’d take a closer look at some of the numbers from the previous campaign in a bid to provide you with some helpful Bundesliga predictions ahead of the start of the new season on 28th August.

How Often do Both Teams Score?

Given the difference in quality between the 18 teams involved, you might perhaps expect a fairly even split between matches in which both teams score and those in which at least one clean sheet is kept. That was clearly not the case during the 2025/26 campaign, however, with 189 of the 306 top-flight fixtures, that is 61.76%, producing goals at both ends.

Interestingly, the RheinEnergieSTADION in Koln and the Europa-Park Stadion in Freiburg were the venues to target for both teams to score tips. In fact, just two Koln home matches (0-1 vs Union Berlin & 1-0 vs Wolfsburg) and three Freiburg games on their own patch (0-1 vs Union Berlin, 1-0 vs Werder Bremen & 4-0 vs Mainz) saw one of the two goalkeepers celebrating a shutout.

In terms of the btts and win market, there were a few standout numbers. Stuttgart were unbeaten in the seven home games in which they both scored and conceded, winning on five occasions, whilst, somewhat unsurprisingly, all-conquering Bayern Munich won nine of 12 matches at the Allianz Arena in which the net bulged at both ends. At the other end of the scale, Eintracht Frankfurt (1 in 10), Borussia Monchengladbach (1 in 6) and Wolfsburg (2 in 12) all found home wins hard to come by when both teams scored.

What About the Over/Under 2.5 Goals Market?

When it comes to football betting tips, there is often value to be found in the over/under 2.5 goals market. Metaphorically speaking, this is widely regarded as the midpoint of a seesaw, so any teams that consistently fall either side of it can be useful to target.

Bayern Munich certainly fall into that category, with all 17 of their Bundesliga home games during the 2025/26 campaign serving up a minimum of three goals. Although no other side could match this level of consistency, 16 of the 18 top-flight clubs were involved in more contests on their own patch containing over 2.5 goals than they were in encounters featuring under 2.5 goals.

Mainz, with ten home matches containing two goals or fewer, were the biggest contributors to the under 2.5 goals category, though even they were beaten 4-3 by both Bayer Leverkusen and Bayern Munich. In fact, just 111 of the 306 games played in the German top-flight last season (36.27%) fell below this midpoint of the seesaw.

Any Other Business

Of course, it is not only both teams to score and over 2.5 goals tips that capture our attention when it comes to making football predictions. In the win to nil market for example, it is notable that Borussia Dortmund managed nine such results on their own patch in the top-flight last season, whilst relegated St. Pauli couldn’t muster a single one.

If you fancy dipping your toes into the water with an over 5.5 goals selection, then a Bayern Munich home match is definitely the place to start. In fact, this proved to be the case in a staggering seven of their 17 Bundesliga games at the Allianz Arena during the previous campaign.

Elsewhere, Eintracht Frankfurt and Koln were particularly partial to drawing away games, managing seven apiece, with none of these encounters taking place against top-six finishers. This means that, in the win draw win market, each of these two sides had a 63.64% chance of finishing on level terms when visiting opponents that finished seventh or lower in the final standings – something to remember for next season perhaps?
