Double Chance

A double chance bet is almost like an insurance policy. Where a WDW bet only allows you to cover one of the three possible outcomes (home win, draw, away win), a double chance bet lets you cover two of those outcomes.

This gives your betting strategy more flexibility and can help save your accumulator if a heavy favourite concedes a last minute equaliser or goes down to 10 men and has to hang on for a draw.

This flexibility means lower returns on a single bet though, which is why double chance bets are a great bet to build your football accumulator. At KickOff we make it quick and simple to do exactly that.

Double Chance Tips and Predictions

We have new free double chance football betting tips updated daily on the site. Our double chance predictions cover domestic competitions like the Premier League, La Liga, Bundesliga, Serie A and Ligue Un, as well as the Champions League and Europa League.

Double Chance Tips and Predictions for Today and the Weekend

We have expert tipsters who produce double chance tips updated every week on our site. Check out the latest double chance betting tips below.

Sunday 16th May – RB Leipzig v Wolfsburg – Home Win or Away Win

Wolfsburg have blown more hot than cold on their top-flight travels recently, winning six and losing two of their previous eight matches, so sharing the spoils has not been something that they have done. Draws have also been few and far between in RB Leipzig home games at this level of late, with just three in 17 fixtures, so one team should emerge victorious here.

Saturday 15th May – Augsburg v Werder Bremen – Home Win or Away Win

Ahead of hosting Bayer Leverkusen, Werder Bremen had been on a seven-match losing streak in the Bundesliga, and they had shared the spoils only once in 11 games at this level of late. As for Augsburg, just four of their previous 18 top-flight home fixtures have ended all-square, so it would come as a surprise were this important contest to end in a draw.

Thursday 13th May – Crotone v Hellas Verona – Home Win or Away Win

The previous 15 Crotone home matches in Serie A have yielded four wins and 11 losses, so finishing on level terms has been firmly off the agenda as far as the relegated outfit are concerned. Given that Verona have drawn just once in nine top-flight trips themselves recently, losing on six occasions, it is hard to see this contest failing to produce a winner.

Monday 10th May – Fulham v Burnley – Home Win or Away Win

Burnley have been incredibly inconsistent on their Premier League travels recently, winning four and losing six of their previous ten games, so Sean Dyche’s men appear to have dispensed with picking up single points. The same could be said of a Fulham side that appears doomed, as they have drawn just once in nine home matches, losing seven.

Sunday 9th May – Real Madrid v Sevilla – Home Win or Away Win

Over the course of their last 15 away matches at the top table of Spanish football, Sevilla have enjoyed nine victories, suffered four defeats and shared the spoils on just a couple of occasions. Before entertaining Osasuna, meanwhile, Real Madrid had won 15, lost three and drawn only two of their previous 20 home games at this level, so we should have a winner.

Saturday 8th May – Sheffield United v Crystal Palace – Home Win or Away Win

Sheffield United have now gone 14 Premier League home games since they were last involved in a draw, with the Blades coming out on the wrong end of the result on ten occasions. Crystal Palace have not been big on sharing the spoils on their travels either, winning five, losing 12 and drawing only three of their last 20 away matches at this level.

Friday 7th May – Stuttgart v Augsburg – Home Win or Away Win

Stuttgart have not been big on draws in the Bundesliga recently, managing only two in 15 matches, and the newly-promoted outfit have secured five victories and suffered eight defeats in their other 13 fixtures during this period. It has been a similar story as far as Augsburg are concerned, with their last 20 top-flight games producing six wins, 12 losses and two draws.

What is a double chance bet?

As the name suggests, a double chance bet gives you two chances to win compared to a normal win draw win bet. With a double chance bet you can cover two of the three outcomes of a match (home win, draw, away win)

What does 1x mean in double chance betting?

Because double chance betting involves betting on two different outcomes, sometimes writing the bet out can become quite long. For this reason, you’ll often see double chance bets written as 1x, x2 or 12. 1x is equivalent to home win or draw, 1 standing for the home team and x for draw.

What does 12 mean in double chance betting?

12 means home or away win, 1 again standing for home win and 2 for away win.

What about x2?

x2 means draw or away win.

When should you place a double chance bet?

Double chance bets are useful in several different scenarios.

Using a double chance bet as insurance for the favourite

One way you can use double chance bets is to protect yourself against a team you think will win having an off day, going down to 10 men or missing a lot of chances.

If the favourite was playing at home then in this case you would place a 1x bet, because you think it’s still unlikely they’ll lose, but the away team may be able to scrape a draw if something goes wrong. This can be particularly useful when looking to build a football betting accumulator as all it takes is one slip up for the whole bet to lose.

Backing the underdog

backing the underdog can be a great way to use a double chance bet, especially as a single. Basically, let’s say you think a team that is favourite to win has odds that are too short, and you think there’s a fair chance they won’t win the match. You could simply back the draw (probably the most likely secondary outcome) but you’d feel pretty annoyed if the underdog actually went on to win. A double chance bet allows you to cover all possibilities except the favourite winning.

Betting on matches involving teams that rarely lose, win or draw

Some teams, especially those with strong defences, rarely lose but might not always have the firepower to get the win. In this case backing them to win or draw would be a good use of a double chance bet.

Other teams might play a very open style which could result in a win or a loss but rarely in a draw. For example, Leeds United have drawn just 3 PL games so far this season.

Finally, a struggling team might draw quite a lot of games but rarely win – this could be especially true if their defence is strong but they don’t create many chances. You might want to back their opponent to win but have the draw as an insurance.
