Championship stats and tips

Saturday 17th January

Coventry v Leicester - Both Teams To Score - yes

Leicester City fans have become used to action at each end when their side plays in the Championship, with both sides having found the net in each of their last 9 outings. Coventry City on Saturday lunch time should be another thriller.

Ipswich v Blackburn - Over / Under 2.5 Goals - under

Low scoring encounters aren't always entirely dull, but fans of Blackburn Rovers have had plenty of opportunity to test that theory this campaign. 15 of their side's fixtures in the Championship have finished with under 2.5 goals so far - the most in the competition. Will K. McKenna and his Ipswich Town team be capable of adding some goals into this match on Saturday? Or will it be yet another low scoring affair?

Watford v Millwall - Double Chance - home win or draw

J. Gracia Carlos and his Watford troops have developed a convenient way of claiming something from just about every Championship match they play. They're unbeaten in 7 in the Championship now, so A. Neil and his Millwall team will need to be on top of their game if they're going to get anything at Vicarage Road on Saturday.

Charlton v Sheff Utd - Over / Under 4.5 Goals - under

Charlton Athletic's recent games in the Championship have delivered decent entertainment, and a fair amount of goals, but it has been too long since N. Jones's charges provided their supporters with one of those games that has you waxing lyrical in the pub afterwards. There have been no more than 4 goals in each of their last 9 games.

Oxford Utd v Bristol C - Half Time / Full Time - away+away

G. Rowett won't be too excited about going up against Bristol City in the Championship on Saturday. G. Struber's side have led at halftime and gone on to claim victory at FT more frequently than any other side in the the Championship this season - 9 times in total. That stat suggests there's every chance of it being a demoralising afternoon for Oxford United, and that backing Bristol City in the HT FT market would be a great shout at odds of 4.00.

Preston v Derby - Over / Under 2.5 Goals - under

Preston North End and Derby County have been involved in a number of tight clashes in recent years. With each of their last 5 Championship meetings having under 2.5 goals, the forwards picked by P. Heckingbottom and J. Eustace may be in for a tough afternoon.

Sheff Wed v Portsmouth - Double Chance - away win or draw

Following your football club can be draining, and Sheffield Wednesday’s long-suffering follows know that better than most right now. Their team, led by H. Pedersen, has now failed to win any of their last 19 Championship matches, and the clouds hardly look like parting against Portsmouth at Hillsborough on Saturday afternoon. Backing opposition boss J. Mousinho to add to their misery by guiding his side to anything other than a defeat can be bet on at top odds of 1.36.

Southampton v Hull - Double Chance - away win or draw

What a dreadful run of results for Southampton and their faithful followers, with their last Championship victory now coming 6 matches ago. Boss W. Still simply must find a way out, and quickly. Will Hull City at St. Mary's Stadium on Saturday provide some relief?

Stoke v QPR - Both Teams To Score & Result - over

If you like tipping goals and picking a winner, then the upcoming game between Queens Park Rangers and Stoke City could be worth a look. J. Stéphan's side have lost 9 games this term in which both teams have found the net. That's the most in the Championship.

Wrexham v Norwich - Over / Under 1.5 Goals - over

Each of Wrexham's last 10 Championship outings has had two or more goals, suggesting that fans could get their money's worth as they battle it out with Norwich City on Saturday afternoon.

Swansea v Birmingham - Double Chance - away win or draw

Swansea City have found something of a bogey team in Birmingham City in the Championship in recent years. The two sides have met on 9 occasions since 2020, and Birmingham City have remained unbeaten in them all. Saturday's game at Liberty Stadium could be a really difficult one for A. Sheehan & co.

Tuesday 20th January

Oxford Utd v QPR - Both Teams To Score & Result -

If you like putting your money on goals and picking a victor, then the upcoming game between Queens Park Rangers and Oxford United could warrant a closer look. J. Stéphan's side have lost 9 games this season in which both teams have scored. That's the most in the Championship.

Tuesday 3rd February

Blackburn v Sheff Wed - Over / Under 2.5 Goals - over

Who doesn't love a goal-fest? And there's every chance we'll see one when Blackburn Rovers and Sheffield Wednesday clash on Saturday afternoon in the Championship. V. Ismaël and H. Pedersen's XIs have shown they know their way to goal, and our smart members believe they will again at Ewood Park. 6 of them are tipping the fixture to deliver at least 3 goals before full time. 1.80 is the top price in our betslip for this suggestion, and it will have plenty of people getting excited.
