Over/under 0.5 goals is a popular betting market with punters across a variety of football leagues and matches.

It’s easy enough to get your head around. Essentially, you bet on no goals to be scored, or more.

It’s not as difficult to predict as some others, however, there are still attractive odds to be found – particularly if you place an acca bet.

Want the best chance of success? Find our tips and predictions above.

Over / Under 0.5 Goals Tips and Predictions – Friday 18th to Monday 21st September

Metz v Reims – Over 0.5 Goals

Reims are on a roll when it comes to their involvement in top-flight away fixtures containing one goal or more, with 19 in a row subscribing to this particular scoring model. It has been a similar story as far as Metz are concerned in Ligue 1 of late, as 16 of their previous 17 matches have served up over 0.5 goals, so expect the deadlock to be broken at some point.

Huesca v Cadiz – Over 0.5 Goals

Over the course of their last 20 matches in the league, Cadiz have been involved in no fewer than 19 encounters containing over 0.5 goals, so achieving consistency has not proven too difficult on this particular front. The same can be said for fellow newly-promoted outfit Huesca, as they have now played 29 times since they were last involved in a 0-0 draw.

Granada v Alaves – Over 0.5 Goals

Granada have been involved in just a single goalless draw over the course of their previous 20 top-flight home matches, so there is little reason to expect such a stalemate in this contest. That is because Alaves have made 42 trips since they were last involved in a 0-0 draw at the top table of Spanish football, thus suggesting that they don’t have such a result in their locker.

Portimonense v Pacos de Ferreira – Over 0.5 Goals

Pacos de Ferreira have featured 17 times since they were last involved in a scoreless draw at the top table of Portuguese football, with these contests yielding a grand total of 55 goals. What’s more, 17 of the previous 18 Primeira Liga fixtures involving Portimonense have also been of the over 0.5 goals variety, so any deviation from this script would come as a surprise.

Over / Under 0.5 Goals Tips and Predictions – Friday 11th to Monday 14th September

Guingamp v Le Havre – Over 0.5 Goals

The deadlock has been broken at some point in 16 consecutive Guingamp home matches in the league, so achieving consistency has not proven too difficult on this particular front. Given that just one of the previous 19 Le Havre away games at this level has finished scoreless, it would come as a shock were these teams not to conjure up at least one goal.

Rodez v Caen – Over 0.5 Goals

Rodez have featured 15 times on their own patch since booking a place in Ligue 2, with every single one of these fixtures producing at least one goal, and the net has bulged 41 times in total across these games. As for Caen, just two of their last 19 matches in the second tier of French football have finished scoreless, so over 0.5 goals are expected in this encounter.

Cadiz v Osasuna – Over 0.5 Goals

Newly-promoted Cadiz have been involved in 12 consecutive home games containing one goal or more, as well as 18 of 20 matches on their own patch over the slightly longer term. It has been an extremely similar story as far as Osasuna are concerned on their top-flight travels of late, with the deadlock being broken at some point in 19 of their previous 20 fixtures.

Angers v Reims – Over 0.5 Goals

Angers are on a roll when it comes to their involvement in top-flight home games containing over 0.5 goals, with 19 of their last 20 matches subscribing to this scoring model. Beginning with a 1-1 draw in this fixture in April 2019, and also including a 4-1 success at this venue last term, Reims have now been involved in 18 trips on the spin containing one goal or more.

Over / Under 0.5 Goals Tips and Predictions – Thursday 3rd to Wednesday 9th September

Middlesbrough v Shrewsbury Town – Over 0.5 Goals

Irrespective of who has been in charge, one area in which Middlesbrough have displayed consistency recently is in their involvement in fixtures in which the deadlock has been broken at some point, with this being the case in each of their last 20 contests. Shrewsbury can match this record, so it would come as a surprise were the teams not to conjure up one goal or more.

Grimsby Town v Morecambe – Over 0.5 Goals

It would be fair to say that Morecambe simply do not do 0-0 draws, as none of their previous 20 encounters have finished scoreless, and the net has bulged a total of 51 times across these games. Grimsby are currently on a run of 18 matches without a goalless draw themselves, so it would come as a major surprise were the deadlock to remain unbroken in this clash.

Over / Under 0.5 Goals Tips and Predictions – Thursday 27th August to Wednesday 2nd September

Niort v Chambly – Over 0.5 Goals

Since drawing 0-0 at home to Guingamp last season, Niort have been involved in 18 fixtures in the second tier of French football, all of which have produced at least a single goal. One of these was a 3-2 defeat at Chambly, and it is worth noting that the visitors have been involved in just a couple of 0-0 draws themselves over the course of their last 18 games at this level.

Reims v Lille – Over 0.5 Goals

Reims simply do not do 0-0 draws, with none of their previous 16 Ligue 1 matches falling into this scoreless category, and there is little reason to expect this sequence to end against these opponents. That is because Lille are the owners of an absolutely identical record, with the deadlock being broken at some point in each of their last 16 games at this elite level.

Over / Under 0.5 Goals Tips and Predictions – Thursday 20th August to Wednesday 26th August

Bordeaux v Nantes – Over 0.5 Goals

Nantes are on a roll when it comes to their involvement in Ligue 1 away games containing over 0.5 goals, with 19 in a row subscribing to this particular scoring model, including a 2-0 defeat in this fixture last season. As for Bordeaux, they have been involved in just a single goalless draw in their most recent 20 top-flight matches, so the deadlock should be broken.

Troyes v Le Havre – Over 0.5 Goals

The deadlock has been broken at some point in 14 consecutive games involving Troyes in the second tier of French football, so achieving consistency in this area has not proven too difficult. Given that just one of the previous 16 Le Havre matches at this level has finished scoreless, it would come as somewhat of a surprise were this contest to produce a 0-0 draw.

Over / Under 0.5 Goals Tips and Predictions – Thursday 13th August to Wednesday 19th August

Hamilton Academical v St. Mirren – Over 0.5 Goals

Over the course of their last 17 matches in the Scottish Premier League, Hamilton have been involved in just a single 0-0 draw, at home to Motherwell, and two clashes with St. Mirren are included in this sequence. Speaking of the Buddies, 17 of their previous 20 games at this level have been of the over 0.5 goals variety, so the deadlock should be broken at some point.

Shelbourne v Derry City – Over 0.5 Goals

Although the seven top-flight matches played by newly-promoted Shelbourne this season have contained a mere 12 goals, it is still worth pointing out that none of these encounters have ended scoreless. As for Derry, they are currently on a run of 12 games on the spin at this level in which the deadlock has been broken at some point, so expect more of the same here.

Over / Under 0.5 Goals Tips and Predictions – Thursday 6th August to Wednesday 12th August

St. Johnstone v Aberdeen – Over 0.5 Goals

One area in which St. Johnstone have proven incredibly consistent recently is in their involvement in top-flight home fixtures containing over 0.5 goals, with this being the case in 19 of their last 20 matches. This has also been the case in 17 of the previous 20 Aberdeen away games at this level, including in a 1-1 draw at McDiarmid Park back in November.

Rubin Kazan v Lokomotiv Moscow – Over 0.5 Goals

Over the course of their last 20 away matches at the top table of Russian football, Lokomotiv Moscow have been involved in just a single goalless draw, with that coming at Zenit St. Petersburg. Although Rubin Kazan have been far more prone to 0-0 draws, it is worth noting that the deadlock has been broken at some point in seven of their last eight home games.

Over / Under 0.5 Goals Tips and Predictions – Friday 31st July to Monday 3rd August

Frosinone v Pisa – Over 0.5 Goals

This is Frosinone’s final home game of the 2019/20 Serie B season, and the fact that none of the previous 18 have finished 0-0 suggests that the net should bulge at some point in this contest. Strangely enough, the same is true for Pisa on their travels this term, with at least one goal being scored in all 18 of their fixtures, so all the signs point towards over 0.5 goals.

Trapani v Crotone – Over 0.5 Goals

Over the course of their last 20 matches in the second tier of Italian football, Trapani have been involved in just a single 0-0 draw, so achieving consistency has not proven too difficult on this particular front. The same is true of Crotone, with just one goalless draw in 20 attempts at this level of late, though the fortunes of the two teams have been very different.

Venezia v Perugia – Over 0.5 Goals

Venezia have been incredibly consistent when it comes to their involvement in Serie B home games containing over 0.5 goals, with 19 of their previous 20 contests subscribing to this particular scoring model. Perugia have taken things to a whole new level on their second-tier travels, however, with the deadlock being broken at some point in 31 matches on the spin.

Ascoli v Benevento – Over 0.5 Goals

When it comes to their involvement in Serie B home matches containing over 0.5 goals, it would be fair to say that Ascoli are on somewhat of a roll, with 35 consecutive games seeing the net bulge at some point. What’s more, just one of the last 20 Benevento fixtures at this level has finished goalless, so the champions are rarely involved in dull contests themselves.

How Does Over/Under 0.5 Goals Betting Work?

If you back under 0.5 goals, you’re betting that no goals will be scored. If you back over 0.5 goals, you’re betting that more than one will be scored over the game. There can be any number of goals, just as long as there’s one, your bet will win.

Therefore, the score at full time determines whether or not you’re successful. It’s also referred to as ‘a goal in the game’ by punters.

This is very similar to the other goal markets, including 1.5, 2.5 and 3.5.

Why Is It Popular?

The simplicity of this market is partly what makes it so popular with bettors. Compared with half time/full time bets, for example, it’s much more straightforward.

While you might not be able to find the odds offered by the correct score market, for example, this isn’t to say you can’t win some attractive returns. The key is that you don’t have to spend much in order for your bet to win. Particularly if placed as part of an acca bet, this market can be an extremely profitable one.

It can be found in a variety of leagues and matches, offered by most of the best betting sites out there.
