Under and Over 2.5 goals

Under and Over 2.5 goals bets fall pretty much at the sweet spot in terms of difficulty and reward. There were roughly 2.7 goals per game in the Premier League last season, so lots of games finish with more than 2.5 goals and lots finish with fewer. This means that odds in this market hover usually around evens or just under, and there is lots of value to be found with the right information.

That’s where we come in. For each game we provide stats on how many goals each team has scored and conceded in their last 20 games, how many of their games have finished with under 2.5 goals or over 2.5 goals, their xG for the season and more detailed stats about chance conversion. Our league table which shows how many of a team’s matches finish with under or over 2.5 goals depending on where the team they’re playing is in the table.

Our free over 2.5 goals and under 2.5 goals tips are updated daily and include all of Europe’s 5 major leagues (the Premier League, La Liga, Serie A, the Bundesliga and Ligue 1), the Europa League and Champions League, as well as some smaller leagues too.

Over and Under 2.5 goals Tips & Predictions for Today and the Weekend

Below you can find all our latest football betting tips across all Europe’s biggest leagues and competitions.

Saturday 15th January – Wolves v Southampton – Under 2.5 Goals

Wolves have kept things very tight so far in the Premier League this season, and it has meant they have largely gone under the radar. But with their 1-0 win over Manchester United many began to sit up and take notice of Bruno Lage’s men who now find themselves 8th in the Premier League, only 5 points behind Tottenham in what could well be a Europa League spot come the end of the season.

Crucially for purposes though – Wolves have only scored 3 goals in their last 9 PL matches, and have conceded just 4. All of those matches, unsurprisingly, finished with under 2.5 goals. Southampton have been more entertaining to watch this season, but more exciting teams (Manchester City, Liverpool, Chelsea) have tried and failed to break down the Wolves wall in recent weeks. This might be one for the neutrals to avoid.

Sunday 16th January – Atalanta v Inter Milan – Over 2.5 Goals

Although there will be 8 points separating these sides when they kickoff on Sunday, Atalanta actually have a game in hand on the two sides above them and you could make a convincing case that this match sees 2 of the 3 best teams in Italy going head to head.

Atalanta have been the entertainers of Serie A so far this campaign, scoring an average of 2.2 and conceding 1.3 per match. That puts them 0.1 goals per game ahead of Inter who have scored 2.6 and conceded 0.8. There have been over 2.5 goals in 15 of Atalanta’s last 20 and 13 of Inter’s. Make time to sit down and watch this one.

Monday 17th January – Fiorentina v Genoa – Over 2.5 Goals

Fiorentina have been one of the most entertaining and successful sides in Serie A this season when playing at the Artemio Franchi Stadium. All 9 of their fixtures there have finished with over 2.5 goals, and in fact there have been an average of 3.8 goals per game. 5 of the matches finished with over 3.5 goals.

11 of Genoa’s last 19 league matches have finished with over 2.5 goals, and they have conceded an average of 1.8 goals per game.

Thursday 20th January – Getafe v Granada – Under 2.5 Goals

Getafe find themselves 17th in La Liga, perilously close to the relegation zone, and their fans can’t even find comfort in entertaining football from their side. There have been just 5 goals in Getafe’s last 6 league games – although one of those goals was from Getafe in a remarkable 1-0 victory over Real Madrid. Granada, too, have pulled off some shocking results in recent weeks – picking up a 1-1 draw with Barcelona and a 2-1 win over Atletico Madrid. But even those shock results were both relatively low scoring.

11 of Getafe’s last 14 league games have finished with under 2.5 goals, while 11 of Granada’s last 20 have ended up the same way. This could well be another cagey clash with goals at a premium.

What is an over 2.5 goals bet?

Obviously, you can’t actually have 0.5 of a goal in a game of football. So a bet that there will be over 2.5 goals in a game is a bet that there will be at least 3 goals in the game which would include scorelines such as 2-1, 3-0, 3-1 and so on.

What is an under 2.5 goals bet?

A bet that there will be under 2.5 goals is a bet that there will be 2 goals or fewer in the game, which would include the scorelines 0-0, 1-0 (0-1), 1-1 and 2-0 (0-2).

How do we make our under 2.5 goals and over 2.5 goals predictions?

The first thing to look at when making a prediction that there will be over 2.5 goals in a game is how many goals the two teams have scored and conceded in their previous matches. This isn’t always as simple as it might look at first sight though. We make sure all our goals stats are available for home matches and overall matches, and that they’re for relevant competitions so that big wins against lower league sides don’t muddy the waters.

Our algorithm also takes into account xG as well as a range of attacking and defensive stats when providing an over 2.5 goals or under 2.5 goals prediction, so you can be sure you’re getting the best over 2.5 goals information.
