Team to Score First Tips and Predictions – Friday 18th to Monday 21st September

Hannover v Karlsruher – Hannover to score first

Hannover have developed a welcome habit of opening the scoring on their own patch, doing so in seven games on the spin in the second tier of German football, including in a 1-1 draw against these opponents last term. Speaking of Karlsruher, they have conceded first 12 times in 15 trips at this level recently, so they know how to make life difficult for themselves.

WSG Swarovski Tirol v LASK Linz – LASK Linz to score first

LASK Linz boast a pretty impressive recent record when it comes to opening the scoring on their top-flight travels, doing so 16 times in 20 attempts, including once at this venue. As for WSG Swarovski Tirol, they have fallen 1-0 behind 11 times in their last 14 home matches at this level, so it is hard to envisage anything different happening in this Bundesliga clash.

Ufa v CSKA Moscow – CSKA Moscow to score first

Over the course of their last 14 away matches in the Russian Premier League, CSKA Moscow have taken a 1-0 lead on no fewer than ten occasions, including in a 1-1 draw at Ufa. Speaking of the hosts, they have conceded the opening goal ten times in 15 home games at this level of late, so all the signs are clearly pointing in one direction ahead of this clash.

St. Gallen v Sion – St. Gallen to score first

Conceding the opening goal has been a problem for Sion on their top-flight travels of late, as they have done so eight times in 12 trips, including in 3-0 and 2-1 defeats on this ground. St. Gallen, meanwhile, have opened the scoring in ten of their previous 15 home matches in the Swiss Super League, going on to collect 28 points from a possible 30 when doing so.

Team to Score First Tips and Predictions – Friday 11th to Monday 14th September

Doncaster Rovers v Milton Keynes Dons – Doncaster Rovers to score first

Doncaster are the owners of an impressive recent record when it comes to opening the scoring in League One fixtures, doing so 13 times in 18 attempts. It has been a very different story as far as MK Dons are concerned at this level recently, as they have fallen 1-0 behind in eight of their previous 11 matches, so all the signs point one way ahead of this encounter.

Mechelen v Oostende – Mechelen to score first

Over the course of their last 20 away matches in the Belgian First Division A, Oostende have conceded the opening goal on no fewer than 13 occasions, so they are adept at giving themselves a mountain to climb. As for Mechelen, they have taken a 1-0 lead in six of their previous eight games at this level, so they will be confident of doing so again in this clash.

Troyes v Pau – Troyes to score first

Although the sample size is very small, newly-promoted Pau have conceded the opening goal in both of their Ligue 2 matches so far this season, losing 3-0 at Valenciennes and salvaging a 1-1 draw at home to Rodez. For their part, Troyes have played 15 second-tier home games since the beginning of the 2019/20 campaign, opening the scoring an impressive 12 times.

Valur v Víkingur – Valur to score first

Leaders Valur have won their last six matches at the top table of Icelandic football, helping their cause by taking a 1-0 lead in every single one of these fixtures. Víkingur, on the other hand, have conceded the first goal four times in a row at this level of late, failing to win any of these games, so all the indications are that it is the home team who will strike first.

Team to Score First Tips and Predictions – Thursday 3rd to Wednesday 9th September

MK Dons v Coventry City – Coventry City to score first

Opening the scoring has been something that Coventry have done with regularity recently, with the Sky Blues getting their nose in front 15 times in their last 20 matches. The boot has been firmly on the other foot as far as MK Dons are concerned of late, however, as they have found themselves trailing 1-0 on no fewer than eight occasions in their previous 11 games.

Sunderland v Hull City – Sunderland to score first

It would be fair to say that Hull are the owners of a truly abysmal record when it comes to conceding first, doing so a staggering 17 times in their last 20 matches, including in seven in a row of late. For their part, Sunderland have opened the scoring in 13 of their most recent 18 games at the Stadium of Light, so it would come as a surprise if they didn’t repeat the trick.

Team to Score First Tips and Predictions – Thursday 27th August to Wednesday 2nd September

Le Havre v Amiens – Le Havre to score first

Le Havre boast a tremendous recent record when it comes to opening the scoring in second-tier home games, doing so eight times in nine attempts, and the one exception was a goalless draw against Lens. Relegated Amiens, meanwhile, have fallen 1-0 behind in seven of their last ten away matches in the league, only getting their noses in front once during this period.

Brann v Strømsgodset – Brann to score first

Having fallen 1-0 behind in nine of their previous 12 matches at the top table of Norwegian football, it would be fair to say that Strømsgodset have developed a habit of making life difficult for themselves. Brann, by way of contrast, have opened the scoring in seven of their last nine Eliteserien home games, so they will be confident of doing so again in this clash.

Team to Score First Tips and Predictions – Thursday 20th August to Wednesday 26th August

Anderlecht v Mouscron – Anderlecht to score first

Anderlecht boast a phenomenal recent record when it comes to opening the scoring in top- flight fixtures on their own patch, doing so nine times in 11 attempts, and they have not conceded first in any of their last 12 on home soil. Mouscron, meanwhile, have fallen 1-0 behind eight times in their previous ten trips at this level, so all the signs point one way.

Zagłębie Lubin v Lech Poznań – Lech Poznań to score first

Lech Poznań have struck first in eight of their last nine Ekstraklasa matches, with the one exception being a goalless draw against Pogoń Szczecin, so they have been the epitome of consistency on this particular front. Zagłębie Lubin, meanwhile, have found themselves 1-0 down more often than not, conceding the opening goal in 11 of their previous 19 games.

Team to Score First Tips and Predictions – Thursday 13th August to Wednesday 19th August

Eupen v Club Brugge – Club Brugge to score first

Defending champions Club Brugge are the owners of an impressive recent record when it comes to opening the scoring in top-flight fixtures, doing so in 14 of their previous 19 games. The same cannot be said for Eupen, however, as they have fallen 1-0 behind in 12 of their last 15 matches at the top table of Belgian football, which doesn’t bode well for them here.

Anderlecht v Sint-Truiden – Anderlecht to score first

Having conceded the opening goal in nine of their last 11 away matches in the Belgian First Division A, Sint-Truiden certainly know how to make life difficult for themselves on their travels. Anderlecht have endured no such problems of late, grabbing a 1-0 lead eight times in 11 attempts at this level recently, so all the signs are pointing one way ahead of this clash.

Team to Score First Tips and Predictions – Thursday 6th August to Wednesday 12th August

Juventus v Lyon – Juventus to score first

Over the course of their last 18 matches on the Champions League stage, Juventus have broken the deadlock on no fewer than 14 occasions, so the Italian giants know how to get their nose in front. Lyon, on the other hand, have endured far greater difficulties in this department, finding themselves 1-0 behind six times in ten games at this level recently.

Kilmarnock v Celtic – Celtic to score first

It would be fair to say that Kilmarnock are the owners of a dreadful recent record when it comes to conceding the first goal in Scottish Premier League fixtures, doing so a staggering 15 times in 20 attempts. Celtic, by way of contrast, have gone 1-0 up 17 times in 20 matches at this level recently, so all the signs point towards the champions drawing first blood.

Team to Score First Tips and Predictions – Friday 31st July to Monday 3rd August

Salernitana v Spezia – Salernitana to score first

Salernitana have developed a welcome habit of opening the scoring in second-tier home games, doing so 12 times in 15 attempts recently, and the chance to join their opponents in the playoffs should give them every incentive here. Speaking of Spezia, they have fallen 1-0 behind four times in seven trips at this level of late, so they are clearly not fast starters.

Aberdeen v Rangers – Rangers to score first

Rangers boast an incredible recent record when it comes to opening the scoring in top-flight away fixtures, doing so in 15 of their previous 18 attempts, including once at Pittodrie. The boot has been firmly on the other foot as far as Aberdeen are concerned, however, with Derek McInnes’ charges finding themselves 1-0 down in four of their last five home matches.

Sandefjord v Molde – Molde to score first

High-flying Molde are the owners of a tremendous recent record when it comes to opening the scoring in top-flight away fixtures, doing so 14 times in 19 attempts. Newly-promoted Sandefjord, meanwhile, have conceded the first goal in three of their five home games this season, pitching a shutout in the other two, and it is hard to see them keeping Molde at bay.

SPAL v Fiorentina – Fiorentina to score first

The fact that SPAL have been relegated comes as no surprise when you see just how difficult they have been making life for themselves of late, as 11 of their last 14 opponents have taken a 1-0 lead against them. For their part, Fiorentina have a pretty decent record when it comes to breaking the deadlock on the road, doing so six times in ten trips at this level recently.
