Team to Score First Tips and Predictions - Friday 11th October to Monday 14th October

Peterborough United v Lincoln City – Peterborough United to score first

Falling 1-0 behind has proven to be a real problem for Lincoln on their travels recently, with the Imps conceding the opening goal seven times in eight league trips, including five times on the bounce of late. As for Peterborough, they have broken the deadlock in seven of their previous eight games at this level, thus providing them with plenty of grounds for optimism.

Morecambe v Bradford City – Bradford City to score first

Bradford boast a superb recent record when it comes to breaking the deadlock on the road, grabbing the lead in six of their previous seven league trips. This ability to open the scoring would stand the Bantams in good stead against most opponents, but it should be even more beneficial against a Morecambe side who have conceded first seven times in eight matches.

Sporting Gijon v Alcorcon – Sporting Gijon to score first

Alcorcon have been having a miserable time of it lately when it comes to conceding the first goal, doing so in six of their previous seven second-tier matches, including in each of the most recent four. The boot has been firmly on the other foot as far as Sporting Gijon are concerned, however, with the hosts going 1-0 up six times in a row on their own patch.

Bristol Rovers v MK Dons – Bristol Rovers to score first

Bristol Rovers have developed a real knack for taking a 1-0 lead in recent matches, doing so in four of their last five games in the third tier of English football, as well as in four of their previous five fixtures on home soil. MK Dons have been on the opposite end of things lately, with Paul Tisdale’s charges conceding the opening goal in four consecutive league matches.

Team to Score First Tips and Predictions - Friday 4th October to Monday 7th October

Brighton & Hove Albion v Tottenham Hotspur – Tottenham Hotspur to score first

Although they have endured more than their fair share of difficulties recently, Tottenham have had few problems when it comes to opening the scoring, doing so in four consecutive Premier League fixtures. As for Brighton, they have found themselves a goal down 11 times in 16 matches at this level of late, with these poor starts being reflected in their results.

Liverpool v Leicester City – Liverpool to score first

Leicester head to Anfield in confident mood, but one major reality check for the high-flying Foxes has to be their record of conceding first on their travels; something that they have done 11 times in 16 top-flight fixtures. Liverpool have endured no such difficulties on their own patch of late in the Premier League, with the Reds taking a 1-0 lead nine times in 11 attempts.

Southampton v Chelsea – Chelsea to score first

Southampton do not have the greatest of records when it comes to conceding the opening goal in Premier League games, doing so in six of their previous nine contests, including in all three of their matches at St. Mary’s this season. Chelsea, by way of contrast, have gone 1-0 up five times in six top-flight fixtures recently, and they also did so at Lille during the week.

Newcastle United v Manchester United – Manchester United to score first

Newcastle do not currently have a team good enough to match their passionate vocal support, and conceding the opening goal in five of their most recent seven top-flight home fixtures is certainly not making life any easier. Manchester United have taken a 1-0 lead ten times in 13 Premier League trips under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, including at St. James’ Park last season.

Team to Score First Tips and Predictions - Friday 27th September to Monday 30th September

Ipswich Town v Tranmere Rovers – Ipswich Town to score first

Conceding the opening goal has become a major issue for newly-promoted Tranmere this season, as Micky Mellon’s charges have fallen 1-0 behind in eight of their nine League One fixtures. Ipswich, on the other hand, have broken the deadlock in eight of their most recent ten league matches, with nine of these contests taking place during the current campaign.

Blackburn Rovers v Luton Town – Blackburn Rovers to score first

Luton are finding life tough in the Championship following promotion, and conceding the opening goal in six of their eight league games this season has done little to help the Hatters’ cause. The picture has been a completely different one as far as Blackburn are concerned recently, with Tony Mowbray’s men taking a 1-0 lead five times in six second-tier matches.

Exeter City v Grimsby Town – Exeter City to score first

Falling 1-0 behind on their travels is something that Grimsby have become accustomed to, with 12 of their previous 15 League Two trips going this way, including each of the last four. Promotion-chasing Exeter, by way of contrast, have taken the lead in ten of their most recent 12 fixtures at this level, with the other two encounters both finishing scoreless.

Morecambe v Northampton Town – Northampton Town to score first

Morecambe are the owners of a dreadful recent record when it comes to conceding the first goal, falling behind in each of their previous six matches in the fourth tier of English football. This is in stark contrast to an improving Northampton side, with the Cobblers breaking the deadlock in five consecutive League Two fixtures as they climb up the table.

Team to Score First Tips and Predictions - Friday 20th September to Monday 23rd September

Manchester City v Watford – Manchester City to score first

To say that Manchester City boast an incredible record when it comes to opening the scoring in top-flight home games would be somewhat of an understatement, as Pep Guardiola’s charges have managed to do so in 22 consecutive fixtures. As for beaten FA Cup finalists Watford, they have fallen 1-0 behind five times in seven trips at this level recently.

Everton v Sheffield United – Everton to score first

Everton have been absolutely flying on their own patch recently, opening the scoring in six consecutive Premier League fixtures and going on to collect maximum points from all of these games. The story has been somewhat different from a Sheffield United perspective of late, with Chris Wilder’s men finding themselves 1-0 down five times in six league matches.

Millwall v Queens Park Rangers – Millwall to score first

Over the course of their last eight Championship fixtures on home soil, Millwall have opened the scoring on no fewer than six occasions, with the other two encounters both finishing goalless. Conceding first on the road has been a real problem for QPR in recent months, with the West London outfit finding themselves chasing the game ten times in 14 trips.

AFC Wimbledon v Bristol Rovers – AFC Wimbledon to score first

Supporters of AFC Wimbledon have not had much to cheer during the current campaign, but the fact that they have opened the scoring nine times in 11 third-tier home games over the longer term has to offer some grounds for optimism. Bristol Rovers, by way of contrast, have conceded the opening goal six times in their most recent nine trips at this level.
