Win To Nil Tips and Predictions

Sunday 14th March – Leicester City v Sheffield United – Leicester City to win to nil

It would be fair to describe the recent away form of Sheffield United in the Premier League as abject, with the Blades failing to trouble the scorers in 11 of the 15 defeats that they have suffered across their previous 18 matches. Leicester have blown somewhat hot and cold on their own patch, but they have pitched a shutout in seven of their last nine top-flight wins.

Saturday 13th March – Real Madrid v Elche – Real Madrid to win to nil

Not only have Real Madrid celebrated 15 wins in their previous 19 top-flight home games, but the European giants have also pitched a shutout in 11 of these successes. This does not bode well for an Elche side that has drawn three and lost seven of their most recent ten away matches in La Liga, particularly as they have netted only seven times across these contests.

Wednesday 10th March – Manchester City v Southampton – Manchester City to win to nil

Ahead of their meeting with Manchester United, Manchester City had enjoyed 17 wins in 20 top-flight home matches, keeping a clean sheet in no fewer than 14 of these successes. This does not bode well for a Southampton side that, before visiting Sheffield United, had lost five away games on the bounce in the Premier League, drawing a blank on four occasions.

Monday 8th March – Belenenses v Benfica – Benfica to win to nil

Benfica have proven extremely sharp defensively of late, keeping four clean sheets in five Primeira Liga matches and conceding no more than a single goal in any of their last 14, whilst they have pitched a shutout in seven of their previous 11 wins. Belenenses, meanwhile, have drawn a blank 12 times in 19 games at this level, and they have lost five of their last 12.

Saturday 6th March – Elche v Sevilla – Sevilla to win to nil

Sevilla have been cooking with some serious gas on their La Liga travels of late, winning six times in eight matches, not to mention keeping a clean sheet in five of these victories. The going has been somewhat tougher for newly-promoted Elche on their own patch, however, as they have won just twice in 14 fixtures, including the playoffs, drawing a blank six times.

Wednesday 3rd March – Lille v Marseille – Lille to win to nil

Before playing host to Strasbourg, Lille had enjoyed 13 victories in 20 Ligue 1 home games, pitching a shutout in nine of these successes, so they have clearly found a formula that is working for them. The same cannot be said for Marseille on the road, however, as they have failed to win in seven trips at this level, drawing a blank at both Dijon and Bordeaux.

Tuesday 2nd March – Juventus v Spezia – Juventus to win to nil

Juventus appear to have rediscovered their mojo on their own patch of late, not only winning five consecutive Serie A matches, but also pitching a shutout in each of the last three of these successes. Spezia, on the other hand, have been stuttering somewhat on their top-flight travels recently, losing four times in seven games and drawing a blank twice in the previous four.

Monday 1st March – Benfica v Rio Ave – Benfica to win to nil

Scoring goals has been a real problem for Rio Ave on their top-flight travels of late, as they have drawn a blank five times in seven trips, and they have suffered four defeats without scoring in the last six of these fixtures. Benfica, meanwhile, have triumphed ten times in 13 home games at this level recently, conceding just once across their previous four matches.

Saturday 27th February – Dijon v Paris Saint-Germain – Paris Saint-Germain to win to nil

Not only have Paris Saint-Germain celebrated 13 victories in their last 19 away matches in Ligue 1, but the French giants have also pitched a shutout in eight of these successes. This does not bode well for a relegation-threatened Dijon outfit that has gone 13 games without a home win, particularly as they have drawn a blank ten times during this miserable sequence.

Tuesday 23rd February – Atletico Madrid v Chelsea – Atletico Madrid to win to nil

Ahead of playing host to Levante, Atletico Madrid had triumphed in 14 of their previous 19 fixtures on home soil, keeping a clean sheet in no fewer than nine of these successes, so the Spanish side are a force to be reckoned with. Although they have improved recently, it remains the case that, prior to visiting Southampton, Chelsea had lost four times in eight trips.

Monday 22nd February – Panetolikos v Panathinaikos – Panathinaikos to win to nil

In 22 top-flight fixtures played during the current campaign, struggling Panetolikos have netted just 11 times, and they are winless in eight games recently. Panathinaikos, by way of contrast, have just handed leaders Olympiakos their first defeat of the season, thus making it seven wins from nine unbeaten matches, seven of which they have kept a clean sheet in.

Sunday 21st February – Manchester United v Newcastle United – Manchester United to win to nil

After enduring quite a difficult spell at Old Trafford, Manchester United have started to rediscover their best form on home soil of late, winning five of eight Premier League matches, not to mention pitching a shutout in five of their last ten. As for Newcastle, before visiting Chelsea, they had failed to find the net in eight of their previous ten away defeats.

What is the Win to Nil Bet Market?

This is a type of football betting that involves placing two bets at once.

The first is a bet that one team will win (also known as a back bet). The second is a bet that the other team will fail to score a goal in a match.

To break it down in simple terms, you bet on:

  • One team definitely scoring
  • One team definitely not scoring

What are the Rules of Win to Nil Betting?

In order to be successful, both parts of your stake have to be correct. If both win, the bet pays out.

There are a few different situations where your bet will lose:

  • If the match ends in a draw
  • If the other team wins
  • If both teams score

These bet terms make this betting market an easy one to understand. It’s essentially a variation of correct score.

However, unlike correct score betting, it’s irrelevant how many goals the winning team scores. But, you do bet on the other team scoring 0.

Example

Let’s take an example of a Manchester United vs. Arsenal fixture.

If you bet on Arsenal to win to nil, you back them to win without conceding a goal. This means they can score any amount of goals across 90 minutes. You’re also betting that Manchester United won’t score at all.

If Man U score any goals, your bet is lost. If Arsenal don’t score at all, you’ve also lost.

Say the final score is 2-0 to Arsenal – and you’ve won.

Why Choose This Market?

Win to nil betting is a straightforward, simple market that’s easy to understand. Particularly if you’re a beginner in football betting, it’s an easy one to get your head around.

Odds vary bookmaker to bookmaker, but it can be profitable. If you’re savvy, you can find some attractive returns for your money. Always check before you place your stake.

This market is good for betting in a match where you think one team will dominate the other.

Tips for Placing a Bet of this Nature

These tips can help point you in the right direction:

  • Pay attention to stats e.g. current form
  • Bet on teams with a good defence and an eye for clean sheets that the other team is unlikely to get around
  • Consider opposition attack – how likely are they to score? Remember defence is only half the battle – you’re placing two bets
  • Be on the lookout for a favourite
  • Look at your team’s disciplinary record e.g. red and yellow cards
  • Consider the goalkeeper – have they kept a clean sheet recently?

There’s no formula for how to win football bets every time – but you can give yourself the best possible chance!
