Win To Nil Tips and Predictions - Friday 17th to Monday 20th January

Porto v Braga – Porto to win to nil

Porto are currently on an incredible run of form in front of their own supporters, not only winning 12 consecutive Primeira Liga matches, but also keeping 11 clean sheets across these victories. Braga, by way of contrast, have disappointed on the road of late, losing a worrying eight times in 15 top-flight trips, not to mention failing to find the net in six of these defeats.

Vitória de Guimarães v Santa Clara - Vitória de Guimarães to win to nil

Vitória de Guimarães have enjoyed their best results in front of their own fans recently, claiming four victories in six top-flight fixtures and keeping a clean sheet in the last three of these wins. Santa Clara bring some pretty abject form into this encounter, securing just nine points from a possible 33, as well as failing to score in seven of their last eight away losses.

Eibar v Atletico Madrid – Atletico Madrid to win to nil

Eibar have suffered four defeats in their previous six La Liga home games, including to both Barcelona and Real Madrid, and they have failed to hit the back of the net in any of these losses. For their part, Atletico Madrid are unbeaten in seven top-flight trips, whilst Diego Simeone’s men have pitched a shutout in seven of their last eight successes on the road.

Benevento v Pisa – Benevento to win to nil

To say that Benevento’s recent home form in Serie B has been impressive would be somewhat of an understatement, with the runaway leaders enjoying seven consecutive victories in which they have not conceded a single goal. As for Pisa, they have lost four times in six trips at this level of late, failing to trouble the scorers in each of these reversals.

Win To Nil Tips and Predictions - Friday 10th to Monday 13th January

SL Benfica v C.D. Aves – SL Benfica to win to nil

Not only have Benfica enjoyed six consecutive top-flight victories on their own patch, but the Portuguese giants have also kept a clean sheet in every one of these successes. This does not bode well for a C.D. Aves side that has been beaten ten times in a row on the road at this level, particularly as they have failed to find the net at high-flying Porto twice during this run.

Sheffield United v West Ham United – Sheffield United to win to nil

Although David Moyes’ arrival has given West Ham a boost, the Scot is not renowned for playing the most exciting brand of football, and he inherits a team that has lost 11 times in 20 top-flight trips, failing to score in nine of those defeats. As for Sheffield United, they have kept a clean sheet in all 12 of their wins across their last 20 home games in the league.

Middlesbrough v Derby County – Middlesbrough to win to nil

Derby are winless in 11 second-tier trips, failing to find the net in all seven of the defeats that they have suffered along the way, so it would be fair to say that the Rams are not the best of travellers. Middlesbrough, by way of contrast, have enjoyed four consecutive Championship victories in front of their own supporters, keeping a clean sheet in three of these successes.

Panathinaikos v Panionios – Panathinaikos to win to nil

Panionios are the owners of a terrible recent away record, suffering 14 defeats in 19 matches at the top table of Greek football, and they have failed to trouble the scorers in nine of the last 12 of these losses. For their part, Panathinaikos have kept three consecutive clean sheets as part of a sequence that has seen them secure ten points from a possible 12 on home soil.

Win To Nil Tips and Predictions - Friday 3rd to Monday 6th January

Bradford City v Morecambe – Bradford City to win to nil

Morecambe’s recent away record in League Two does not make for pretty reading, with eight defeats in ten trips, as well as failure to find the net in each of the last four of these losses. Bradford, by way of contrast, have been flying on their own patch of late, keeping a clean sheet in each of their previous three victories as part of a run of eight wins in 11 matches.

Liverpool v Sheffield United – Liverpool to win to nil

Sheffield United have only been beaten five times in the Premier League this season, though the last four of these defeats, including at home to Liverpool, have all seen Chris Wilder’s men fail to trouble the scorers. For their part, the Merseyside outfit have now chalked up ten consecutive top-flight victories, keeping a clean sheet in each of the last four of these wins.

Numancia v Deportivo La Coruna – Numancia to win to nil

Relegation-threatened Deportivo La Coruna have played 11 away games in the Segunda Division during the current campaign, winning none, drawing five and losing six of these matches, as well as failing to find the net on five occasions. As for Numancia, they have won six of their last ten home fixtures at this level, keeping a clean sheet in five of these victories.

Olympiacos v Panathinaikos – Olympiacos to win to nil

Olympiacos are the owners of an incredible recent home record at the top table of Greek football, winning 17 of their previous 19 matches and keeping ten clean sheets along the way. Although Panathinaikos have been in decent form themselves of late, it has to be worth noting that they have failed to find the net in six of their most recent seven away defeats.

Win To Nil Tips and Predictions - Friday 20th to Monday 23rd December

Le Havre v Chambly – Le Havre to win to nil

Chambly enter this contest in dreadful form, having lost nine of their previous 12 second-tier matches, whilst they have also failed to trouble the scorers in seven of these reversals. For their part, Le Havre have claimed maximum points from three of their last four games at this level, with the promotion-chasing outfit keeping a clean sheet in two of these victories.

Lens v Niort – Lens to win to nil

Niort bring some dreadful form with them into this contest, having lost six times in seven Ligue 2 games, four of which they have failed to find the net in as well. Promotion-chasing Lens, by way of contrast, have enjoyed consistently strong results on their own patch this season, winning six of eight second-tier matches and keeping six clean sheets along the way.

Nantes v Angers – Nantes to win to nil

Nantes have proven a force to be reckoned with on their own patch so far this season, keeping six clean sheets on the way to collecting 19 points from nine matches at the top table of French football. It has been a very different story as far as Angers are concerned of late, as they have drawn a blank six times in ten Ligue 1 fixtures, losing five of these encounters.

Ajax v ADO Den Haag – Ajax to win to nil

Ajax have experienced a few disappointing results in recent weeks, both in domestic and continental competition, yet the fact remains that they have won 18 of their previous 20 Eredivisie home games, pitching a shutout in ten of these successes. As for Den Haag, they have lost seven times in ten trips at this level recently, drawing a blank in consecutive losses.

What is the Win to Nil Market?

This is a type of football betting that involves placing two bets at once.

The first is a bet that one team will win (also known as a back bet). The second is a bet that the other team will fail to score a goal in a match.

To break it down in simple terms, you bet on:

  • One team definitely scoring
  • One team definitely not scoring

What are the Rules?

In order to be successful, both parts of your stake have to be correct. If both win, the bet pays out.

There are a few different situations where your bet will lose:

  • If the match ends in a draw
  • If the other team wins
  • If both teams score

These bet terms make this betting market an easy one to understand. It’s essentially a variation of correct score.

However, unlike correct score betting, it’s irrelevant how many goals the winning team scores. But, you do bet on the other team scoring 0.

Example

Let’s take an example of a Manchester United vs. Arsenal fixture.

If you bet on Arsenal to win to nil, you back them to win without conceding a goal. This means they can score any amount of goals across 90 minutes. You’re also betting that Manchester United won’t score at all.

If Man U score any goals, your bet is lost. If Arsenal don’t score at all, you’ve also lost.

Say the final score is 2-0 to Arsenal - and you’ve won.

Why Choose This Market?

Win to nil is a straightforward, simple market that’s easy to understand. Particularly if you’re a beginner in football betting, it’s an easy one to get your head around.

Odds vary bookmaker to bookmaker, but it can be profitable. If you’re savvy, you can find some attractive returns for your money. Always check before you place your stake.

This market is good for betting in a match where you think one team will dominate the other.

Tips for Placing a Bet of this Nature

These tips can help point you in the right direction:

  • Pay attention to stats e.g. current form
  • Bet on teams with good defence that the other team is unlikely to get around
  • Consider opposition attack - how likely are they to score? Remember defence is only half the battle - you’re placing two bets
  • Be on the lookout for a favourite
  • Look at your team’s disciplinary record e.g. red and yellow cards
  • Consider the goalkeeper - have they kept a clean sheet?

There's no formula for how to win football bets every time - but you can give yourself the best possible chance!
